View Full Version : Newbie question; dot tool with tablet

I've been experimenting with ZBrush, and one of the things I've noticed is that the dot tool seems to apply dots to my models inconsistently. Sometimes I get a high dot, sometimes a very small one. I'm using this with a graphire tablet, and I know the dot tool is pressure sensitive, at least under my current settings. However, this happens even when I'm pressing with maximum force. My best guess is that as I'm letting up on the pressure, the cursor twitches a pixel or two, and so the dot gets applied at a lower level of intensity. Is this correct? Is there any way to fix it? I already have mouse averaging turned on (though to just 2 pixels I think).

Thanks,
Ken

I've yet to find a practical use for the dot brushes, to be honest. But what I'd probably do is this:

Open your Preferences palette.
Expand the Tablet rollout.
Ctrl-Drag a copy of the "Use Tablet" button out into the canvas, or maybe dock it in one of the side panels.
Use that button to toggle pressure sensitivity on or off.
Leave it on for most of your work, but off for the dot brushes. Control those with brush size and Z intensity instead.
Conversely, you could just use your right mouse button to end the stroke if you really want the pressure control.

Incidentally, don't be surprised if these posts get moved to the "Questions and Troubleshooting (http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/forumdisplay.php?f=8)" forum. Where, y'know, they belong. :)
