View Full Version : Facets in the viewport?

While I am sculpting detail, my mesh displays in the viewport with faceting. Is there a setting somewhere to make the model display nice and smooth?

Also, I watched the Martin Kroll video, and am wondering how to paint in all the high frequency detail using brushes. I can't figure out how to keep my model as a 3d object, and paint in the fine skin details, like scales and such.
Any help, or zscripts I should watch, are appreciated.

Set smoothing to 1 and sub-d to about 3 to 6. Make sure quick is turned off.

Use Projection Master to accomplish this.

Is this the method ambient-whisper used in the video? I ask only because it doesn't look like he dropped the mesh to the canvas.
If I use projection master, do I still have interactivity with the model? Or is it dropped to the canvas? I would like to maintain interactivity if at all possible. If not, I will work with what I am given. :)

Part of it was done with Projection Master. Part was done with TRANSFORM EDITS (Inflate, Standard, Layers, etc). These are done in "real time". Simply go to the TRANSFORM menu and you will see them there. You can alter the way the brush behaves by using the EDIT CURVE graph located in the TRANSFORM pallet as well.

You should never lose "interactivity". The tools are always there for future use as longs as you Save them. To use Projection Master simply activate it's Icon or activate it from the Plugin menu. Once you drop the object you can paint details on it etc. Then you activate Projection Master again and Pick up the object. All the displacement painting that you did will be transfered to the mesh and the mesh will be altered accordingly. You need to try these tools out before assuming you can not do something. Look through the HELP files that came with Z2, all of these questions are answered in those files. :)
