It doesn't look like you're struggling, you have a pure horse shape defined in z-spheres. Now that's something to be happy about.

Can you tell me the difference between making an object a 3D polymesh and making it an adaptive skin? or maybe why I would use one and not the other? I know HOW to do both, it's the "which one do I choose for what" that gets me.

The adaptive feature allows you to skin your zsphere model just like pressing the make polymesh button. The advantage with using adaptive skinning is that you can change the pose (position of sphere chains) of your model and re-skin it. It does have a limit on how many times you can sub divide it though (8) to add more detail. Change your model to a polymesh for obj export to an external animation program. There are dozens of pipelines that you could follow the question you need to focus on is what is the final destination for the model. This usually dictates what direction you will take.

This is just a little update cause I've been researching, trying this or that, and think I have got it in my head on how Morph Targeting works and the how to use the adaptive skin preview more effectively!

I have lots more work of course, this is the beginning of something that will probably take me months.. but already have learned soo much! I hope you are not bored with my beginner stuff. There is so much posted that just blows this away! Maybe I will get there someday!

Thanks for the comments and any suggestions is appreciated!
