Right guys I am well and vexed with this bloody programme,i have been going through the tutorials with the demo of z brush and I have hit the usual first stumbling block with the transform tools being greyed out? What is the process to get around this, i have been on the forum and read the threads and I still non the wiser. Is there any tutorials that show you how model and texture a character without these stupid bloody quirks getting in the way. We have just bought 2 versions of z brush based on ease of use and results, now are there any decent step by step learning tuts with the software or are we still going to be floundering around in dark.

Cheers

My opinion is take a day or two and watch ALL of the zscripts that ship with the program. Then, go through the practical guide.

After two days tops, you will know the ins and outs of Zbrush. It's really not that hard. I think people are expecting this program to work as their 3D package of choice, and forget that Zbrush really isn't like any other program out there.

But to help you with your problems, what it seems like to me, is you have gone out of edit mode (Short cut on the keyboard is the T key) and dropped your 3D model to canvas. Once you do that, you cannot "reactivate" the 3D model you where just working on. However, if you go into the tools palate, you will see that your 3D model is still there. Just select the tool (Zbrush's terminology for 3D objects) and redraw it on the canvas. Right after redrawing it, hit the T key, and you will be able to edit you 3D model to your hearts content.

Hopefully this will help. I still recommend going through all of the zscripts in the program. Their invaluable assets to learning Zbrush.

Hey Mark,
Welcome to the forum. I would advise you to use the Zscripts to do some quick learning. I will include a quick script here. You should make sure the Show Actions is turned on under the Zscript dropdown menu on the top right of the screen. Zscripts were the most influential and intuitive learning tool devised. Anything you might not understand be sure to ask. Someone is usually around the forum to help. I hope these work well for you.
