OK it's not such a great model but it's the best I've managed so far LOL!
I made a lot of mistakes and learned a lot from this model and feel like I'm starting to get the hang of sculpting in Z-Brush - I love it!

Modelled from Z-Spheres, rendered with a modified version of Pixolators "Dino Egg Sample" set up. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200405/user_image-1084392573sbf.jpg

Wow BazC !!!
What a clear head you made :tu:
very smooth modeling like other 3d prog!!!
Can you show us your zsphere model?
I'm a bit jaleous about what you've done...
How many hours with ZB do i have to practice to get something so sweet :D

Thanks for the kind comments! The Z-Sphere base was just a straightforward 8 sphere set up for skull, neck, eyes, ears, nose and mouth. I'll take a screengrab and post later. - Baz

There ya go, the mesh is a straight conversion, it needed a lot of point tweaking before I could get down to proper sculpting :) - Baz http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200405/user_image-1084396292tqs.jpg

Do you mind posting a link to that "dino-egg" setup thread? I really love the soft gradual shadows of it... like a radiosity render...

dang, and I have to agree, that's a great smooth model, my models never feel smooth to me. And i seem to ask lots of people this, cause I still can't get it right, but you have any suggestions for making noses and eyes(and ears), yours look so great!

*last thing, how many polys?

way cool bazc....that model is great! can't wait to see how you "texture" him. (if you decide to that is)

keep up the good work and experimenting!

Thanks for all the encouragement! :D

The head is 34069 polys though I wasted a lot of them by clumsy subdividing  I let two areas overlap so I have a big band of insanely dense mesh where I need very little detail, I'll do better next time!

The eyes and nose were done in pretty much the same way as Mahlikus the Black's excellent Eyelid Script (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=011331)

I've not seen a tut on ear modelling in ZB though I guess there must be some about.

Pixolators Lighting and Material can be found here! (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=010113&p=2) scroll to bottom of page :)

I'm not sure I'll be texturing this one Aminuts, it was really an exercise in learning to model in ZB, I'll probably move on to something else now :)

Cheers - Baz

How are you suppesed to make it out of a zsphere? i thout you have to use just a normal sphere

You can start with any shape you like really. The advantage of starting with Z-Spheres is you can arrange the mesh to follow the features of your head. When starting with a 3dsphere tool the poles can cause problems and some areas of the mesh flow in a different direction to the muscles of the face so you need a denser mesh to get the same level of detail. Of course you have much more control over the arrangement of the mesh in ZB2, I'm still using 1.55

Hope that helps! - Baz
