View Full Version : Pencil Question
Was wondering what the best way is to achieve the look of a pencil drawing? I want to be able to draw sketches on a white background.
I have tried the Simple brush and the Single layer brush. Both with freehand stroke and spacing at .01. I want a fine black line. I can get a thick line with no problem. But for some reason all of my thin fine lines have like dots..... If I draw to fast. They also look blotty. Any ideas or settings?
Thankz...

sketch at a larger image size...try double yer canvas and zoom in a bit ...and when you put it back down to normal size it should look alright....I do some sketching with Z....but it's more of a 2d painting....Layers>Modifiers>Fill and chose whatever color you want for the background and then go for it.... ;) hope this helps....though for me it's not exactly like sketching with a graphite stick and some thick paper for sure..but it can still be fun once ya get used to it

Another method is to actually do your drawing with your chosen pencils, and scan the drawing in as a texture, sizing your document to match the proportions of your sketch... ;)
dr. jjwow no I haven't yet. I want to see how far I can push Zbrush. At least that's my goal.
:)
Ron I tried that as well which does work but, I have to be able to see the whole picture to keep it in perspective. When I tried that method my sketch was distorted. ;)
Pix or anyone else can you ring in here? :)

Try using the freehand stroke with the simple brush and set the spacing amount in the freehand stroke to zero.
