Ive learned zbrush by practicing the "Zbrush pratical guide" exemples.

It took me a full week to learn it.
Then I asked some questions on the forum, made some works, and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRATICE.
Find some photo references and try to copy it first, for the best results. When you will feel at ease, invent your own stuffs.
ZBrush is a terrific software, HAVE FUN!!!!!

That's good advice to follow. Try ne things, try them again in different ways, examine the works of others, download and watch any scripts posted to see how other people work. Eventually you will adopt your own process that is comfortable and post aid to others just starting.

-watch zscripts, the ones built into zbrush and the ones on the forums by users.

-try to create something from reality using photos for observational reference. this will help you focus more on learning to use tools and various techniques for getting desired effects as you will already know how your end result should look.

-practice, practice, practice. repeat.
