To all...
I am going to present two texture images...one from KenB's alien and one that I created on a model of mine.
I ran the KenB alien script to get the texture..on the same machine I did my model and texture on.
I exported KenB's model and texture as an obj file and imported it into Lightwave...no problem...worked like a champ.
The model and texture I made, no way will it work...no matter which way I invert the texture from Z...I have tried everything.
The problem isn't in how it is aligned...the big problem is how it is being created in Z.

Take a look at these two images...and you tell me...what's up?

Any help...except "please look in the quicklinks" would be appreciated. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1032735155jck.jpg http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1032735166hqb.jpg

The model that you created in ZBrush was probably created using ZSpheres, wasn't it?

The default mapping method for ZSphere-created models is called UV Tiles, and is unique to ZBrush (although it will be read correctly by any program).

You can read more about this method here (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=007648) and here (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=008133). Those threads should answer all of your questions about both UV Tiles and the mapping options available to you in version 1.51.

Good Evening Loqutos . . . :)

when you have your "Adaptive or Unified" skinned object on the canvas, & your in "Edit" mode, open the "TextureMaster" Zscript. BEFORE!!! you select the "DROP" button, go to "Tool / Modifiers / Texture", & you'll see 3 different "UV-choices = UVC, UVP, UVS". See included image. These stand for UVCylindrical, UVPlanar, & UVSpherical. If you select the "UVS" button, before you select the TextureMaster = DROP button, you'll then assign the UVSpherical texturing method to the texture for the object, & I believe this is what your looking for. As you continue to create your texture, you'll see it appear in the little texture window, as your used to seeing in other programs. I think this will help straighten you out with this problem. ;)

In the image included, I created an "Adaptive" skinned object, just for this explanation, & before selecting the "DROP" button in "TextureMaster", I selected, "UVS" for my choice of texture type. I created a simple texture for my model, using "TextureMaster", then I exported the Model & Texture as an .OBJ file. I opened Vue 4, & imported my saved .obj file & rendered it. As you can see, there isn't any problems with the object or texture. Also, by using the "UVS" texture choice, you can import the texture into PhotoShop or PaintShopPro or what ever program you use to further edit the texture. :D

I hope this explanation will help you understand Zbrush's UVTexturing methods better, & you have a good one . . . Mark.
