Had ZBrush since last November, but it never seemed quite worth it (for me) to get past the interface. With the improved interface and inproved tools and improved everything, that sure has changed. My first of hopefully many posts. Thank you Pixologic and everyone concerned. This program IS art!

Nice one Jim... :tu:
You should try the ZBrush renderer, if you have 1.5 downloaded...It's a lot better than what I presume is a Bryce render, but that is a cool image, anyway!

I will, I was just checking out the models. Those ZSpheres make some of the cleanest .obj files I've seen. Will definitely not have any problems getting into 1.5 in all its glory! Now, if we just had the 1.5 docs <g>. Jim

It is a nice model Jim!
And given the philosophy of the software, and the ability of ZScripts to illustrate, I wouldn't expect docs... ;)
But in the days to come, there will be lots of scripts posted to show the 'tricks'... :D

Nice work. I like the sharpness of the shadow. The modeling is also unique.

The transparent areas on the model are a really cool addition. Hope to see more :tu:

Jim!!!!! So nice to see you here! Is that one of 'their' pets? :D

SC, I'll be doing some in Bryce, some in ZB myself. Different render engines. Different environments. It's nice to have the flexibility of either/or.

Good enough Cricket! ;)

But having used Bryce for years, and 1.5 for a little over a month, there is no comparison as far as I can see...The 'Rays' setting in the Shadow pallette makes the renders so sharp and clean that there is no way I would compare the two...Doing volumetric renders in Bryce takes a long time, and still doesn't give you anywhere near the same result, but I would love to see a side-by-side comparison if you're into it. I've seen your Bryce work and it is wonderful, so if anyone could do the comparison, it would be you... :D

And the shadow aperture settings seal the deal for me!

Yep, I'm gonna love this program. Did my first "all Zbrush". Don't know why, but I like combining parts of differn programs. Going to be spending a lot of time with ZBrush though, lol. Jim

Ah, I see you found the Color Spray brush Jim! ;)
You might be interested in setting the Shadow Ray setting to 10 or so, and the aperture to around 120, and re-rendering...
It'll get mighty slick looking with all these nice planes you have on your model... :) :tu: :tu: :tu:

Oh, and try playing with the color modifiers in the Color Spray modifier pallette just for fun! Sliding those babies, and without worrying about producing a final image that you would keep will amaze you, when you see the possible variations...

:) :) :) Thanks for the tips. Too bad I have to work tomorrow. Glad I didn't have any unbreakable plans for the weekend.

Hey, How in the world did you get that hollowed out lattice like that?! That is awsome and it would be kind of you to let us know, I find that kind of work amazing so thanks for sharing.

Hey Sample, I think that's a Bryce material, but you can do the same thing in Z with a transparent texture...If you check the QuickLinks at the top of the page, you will find how to produce these sorts of effects...
