Here is a test in Renderman using RAT.Render time was about 10 seconds. Insanely great compared to the 10 - 15 min of Mental Ray! : )

Can someone post the details of the appearance they use in Renderman to create the displacements. I am thrilled by how fast Renderman deals with displacements but I cannot seem to get the very fine details out of the hair and such on the test maps.
Here are the settings I am using for my combine displacement shader

I want to know how to get the fine displacements in the hair and lips I seem to be missing.

check out the displacement thread.....i just saw it re-emerge on front page (well for me tonight) the one you downloaded this model from.........if i remember right there is a wealth of info on mr renders...not sure if they are renderman or maya tho...but a place to look til someone comes along with more knowledge in that area!!!

Change your flilter width to a much lower value if you are using the gaussian filter. I would suggest 0.01 for ST. Should look great then!

You can always cahnge the filter type too, can you try out catmull-rom, or radial b-spline.

you can also check render globals for render quality, 0.25, or 0.5 will give best results when using fine deatailed displacement maps.
