View Full Version : The Arabian Horse
Hi, for my daily fix of ZBrush I decided to spend an hour to model the arabian horse (Equus caballus arabicus). Reference photos from the web were used to model characteristics of the breed.
The model is made using a 3d sphere. I like it so far, and I think I am going to further refine and enhance it. Comments and critiques are most welcome.

pretty cool Nergal, once you discover zspheres you are gonna really be excited about modelling subjects like this.....Great job of doing it by pushing and pulling a sphere around though!!
Hi aminuts  I am glad you liked the horse. I also agree that Z spheres are great. I do however use the 3d sphere from time to time, particularly when I am trying to introduce my friends to ZBrush. People seem to really like seeing a sphere quickly turn into something recognizable. Unless they are die-hard artists, for some reason the Z sphere approach seems to scare them. (They think its a complex approach)

Yeah it can be scary when you're used to getting dirty...ie clay between the fingers and in the fingernails, paint in your hair, charcoal on your elbow!!!:D etc etc.
It's hard to picture that lump of clay as points and poly's when you are used to touching and letting your mind float away even with a basic concept in mind.
I am struggling a bit with the "foresight" needed to add polys in subd 1 before I even begin sculpting......also with a desire to up it a few levels and just free sculpting then playing with poly's instead of the other way around.
In any event....I am sure your little sphere project there turned many heads even the die hard ones!!
