single layer brush tool?

in the tool pallette? I was reading the stone head tutorial and it said to select it but I could not find it, it also said to selct a brown, "rock like" color but I couldn't find a brown color. Sorry for the stupid questions but am I missing something?........besides a brain ;)

run this script....on yer script..click on show actions....and have yer floating pallette (tab) at the bottom of yer screen but to where you can see it...
