View Full Version : The Hole
My name is Shikuri. I'm girl friend of Pigma.
I had not submitted the work here for a long period of time.
However, since the Mac version of ZBrush2 was developed, I was able to make the work. :D :D :D

I made the picture of the big size this time for the exhibition in Kyoto.
The printed size is 13.5 feet in height in 12.5 feet of breadth.
It was printed on three printing paper of a roll with a width of 4.15 feet, and was hung up over the floor in three dimensions from the ceiling of the angle of the room of an art gallery.
It is the form with which three sheets of papers overlap on the portion of the print of the hole in the portion under a picture.

Right part.

The themes of this picture are a hole and a castle.
A hole is located in a low position into which it looks, and that it is in the position to look up at made the castle from the purpose.

Hey Shikuri, you always make such beautiful work! Thank you for sharing! I have a question though. Was all the content (images) for this installation created in ZBrush? If so how did you use the limited canvas size of Zbrush to create such a HUGE! printing? Did you create individual sections in ZBrush and assemble them in PhotoShop? Please tell. BTW what gallery are you showing at? :tu: :tu:
This looks fantastic !!!!
I have the same questions as sirquadalot, how did you manage such a
big (and beautiful) picture ?????
jantim
Your work is very great, and original :tu:

Amazing!!! :D Thanks for sharing such great pieces.
Hi sirquadalot,jantim,and all. :D
Thank you for giving a comment.
In order to build this big picture I exported the pictures of ZBrush2 and compounded in Photoshop picture of Width7620pixels and Height8260pixels.
The maximum sizes of the picture made from ZBrush this time are Width2500pixels and Height3000pixels.
Each part made from ZBrush is seven, a "woman", "monster 2 group", the "ground", a "castle", and "the clouds of a background."
Although I wanted to make in fact bigger resolution, in the personal computer which I have, the resolution of 20 pixels is a limit.
This exhibition in Kyoto is small-scale and is spontaneously held with Japanese friends.
This meeting is performed every year and it is the 8th year this time.
The name of this exhibition is "JeuJiunten".

Hello Shikuri girlfriend of Pigma,
Its seems the culmination of all your previous experiments and work with zbrush. I'm so happy to see its consumation in this form. Congratulations..... and thanks for the visual pleasure ;) ( you have to decide if I'm talking about the picture of you or your work......or both:rolleyes: )
I could'nt understand the explanation of your meaning for the work. Would you mind elaborating on its purpose?
Something else I find interesting is how small you made the mouths of your characters. I think this is something quite common in the Japanese 'style' of art. Out of interest , is there some significance? or inherant meaning?
Kircho
Ps - Simon what is real work?

Hi sirquadalot.
I cannot do English. Therefore, I cannot explain my own picture well. :(
However, it challenges. :o
The concept of this picture is building the work which has the characteristic in an actual exhibition using CG. It is not a picture for a web.
In order to enjoy the relation between the act which those who appreciate a work look up at, the act to look down on, and the printed picture, I made this picture.
As most important thing, it is the method of the exhibition printed by big size and the last which I took into consideration.
The contents of a picture were automatically drawn from this concept.
The relation of "looking up at a picture" and "A picture is looked down on." such as corresponds to Oriental dualism, "a hole/castle", and " shadow/light",
Moreover, the thing with the small mouth of the woman in this picture is because the conditions of the old beauty in Japan are asked for a mouth being small.
Japanese people considered that it was vulgar and it was ugly to show and laugh at a tooth with a big mouth from ancient times.
Therefore, in makeup the lipstick was also drawn as small as possible.
I thought that I would make a traditional Japanese beauty. :o :o
Did my reply approach your question?
Hi Frenchy Pilou! :D
I am sorry to have not been able to realize your order easily.
I have imagined many things in order to make the picture on the theme of "GO" from that time all the time.
"-- how or make it into a prostitute GEISYA... ?" "how make a classic hermit's picture ... ? "etc.
the picture with which the "dancing geisha" whom I thought of recently is playing "GO".
Please wait to a slight degree. ;)
The picture which I next announce is about "GO." :tu:

I miswrote the name.
My upper description is the reply written to the question of Kircho.
Thank you very much for your instruct! sirquadalot. :o
shikuri
shikuri ,
I appricate you taking the time for such a detailed explanation including the philosophical intropection of our work! You certainly have " approached" my question
I wonder if this reflects your normative views as an artist, ? If so do you believe the Sun exist for the creation of the shadow?
I appricate your idea very much . But I want to ask you two rhetorical questions....How deep is the hole? and how black is the space that fills it?....
If you have already considered the answer to the first question , sun and shadow duality, can you honestly answer yes?
Thanks for some interesting information about Japanese culture , it really makes me wonder from what mind set these things come about when you consider the Chinese view that small feet are more attractive....or is femininty universal:)hehe???
My appriciations once again shikuri , I would really like it if you could share one of the poster in high resolution (maybe the the poster containing the Japanese women). I have an A0 plotter at work in need of some testing:)hehe
Kircho
Ps - don't worry about your enlgish I think Japanese lend its self to precision , in relation to a mans objective perception. Obviously I'm refering to your Japanese " styled" enlgish
In my own research I came across a Japanese scientist by the name of Masaru Emoto. He is one of the first researches to take pictures of crystalised water under different conditions. His research has shown conclusivley that when words are placed in the view of water , the crystal that forms on freezing the water is different for every word. The differences between using the same words but borne of different langauges is very curious. THe Japanese langauge seems to reflect an automatic meaning of the word in the crystal formation. Where as the enlgish words most times form arbitrary and 'unsugestive' crystal formations.
