Although we all are new at this problem, I've had a play around with it for the last 3 hours or so. I figured I might as well ask my first question, see if any of us have figured this out.

I've made a guy out of ZSpheres (im sure we all have if you've downloaded the program already)

I went to make a few finer details with ZSpheres such as fingers on the hand.

When I 'skinned' my ZSphere creation, the fingers went totally thin as hell and twisted. Any insight on this? As ive said, i've looked through it, tried a number of things, however without proper documentation it makes it a little hard to figure out just yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

MJ when creating zfigures you have two skinning choices...Adaptive (low-poly) skins and Unified (high-res) skins. Keep in mind that when making unified skins the smaller the sphere the less area you will have that will contain polygons. When making extremely thin fingers, tentacles etc, you are providing the skinning process very little area to place polygons. So what you need to do is enlarge the spheres to the point where they aren't as thin and squiggly when skinned. When making adaptive skins you will not generally run into this problem as the skinning intereprets the entire surface area when placing polygons and evenly distributes those polygons across all surfaces. The result is that on adaptive skins you will usually get box like appendages with good polygon coverage. Experiment.

Try making the spheres for the hands higher resolution by going to the Tool->Inventory pallette when you're ready to add the fingers, and make the last joint ZSpheres a little larger. I'm sure if you wait a few days you will start to see Scripts here to help you out... ;)

Edit: I see Lonnie has helped as well...

We will be posting expert tips and tricks for ZSpheres as soon as we can. In the interim, don't forget to study the ZScripts that came with v1.51 -- there are many great tips to help you learn ZSpheres in there!
