View Full Version : Pelerin - modeling enhancement
Hello everybody
Well at last I spend a little time to try zb
I played for the last two days with a character made in Maya, was not intended for that in the beginning so just clean up to have 4 sides poly.

I did it roughly by importing a character made of several piece in one obj fle. (And this is not a good way to do that :) , I did not want to spend time to replace each element in ZB and haven't find how to render a good displace in max or Maya (well rendering is my weak side I'm afraid  )
It imports polygroup that help for the display, but no way to texture each part separatly, so I forget the displace stuff to focus on tools and see what I could have in the end.
The final composition is a ZB rendering using 4 layers (body, bag, bow, umbrella)
Btw a mask by polygroup would be a ggod feature ;)
hehe.. damn cool caharcter!! :D
Nice try in detailing the char, though one can see that you are more familiar in creating the cage > looks great! :)
keep zbrushing
cheers

WOW!!!!! I love it.
Man you say you spend a little time to try ZBrush. Ive been "trying" ZBrush for a few weeks now and even with all the tutorials and zscripts Im a bit lost in all the features. You make it sound so easy.

Hi Junk-man,
I really like this guy! You're doing great.
As for your group-masking request, no sooner said... than done. Check out MaskGroups plugin (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=016285).
I already had this feature as a part of the next Moldy script so I put it on a button as a plugin. The posted thread explains how to use it.

Sven -> thanks, I should have post before I would have waste less time
HariKari -> don't msunderstand me, I spend two days on that model, but I know ZB for about a year and that's the first time really dgg into it, so carry on
marc -> thanks for the comments, i 'll post another version, U got an idea
Travart -> well not possible with that one due to the way i imported and subdivided it. But I think about t (normal or displace)
But i wanted to focus on zb without thinking of the how to generate ths and render it in another applcation.

A camper who likes his comfort
Junk, what a cool character. Lots of personality. Very nice modeling. I'd love to see him painted... :)

I try to smmoth some faces with the blur brush
is it possible to restrict the effect to the object only without melting the bordre of the geometry on the canvas?

Color en renderng test in ZB
Final image in PS
I have hard to deal with the materials, to copy an existing one, rename it, modify it.....
BTW a pick material like a pck color would be nice
In this exemple I use different materials but after 1 minute I don't remember wich one I used for the flesh and wich one for the clothes.
Also an HSV slider in the color box would be great.

Of course you have a "picker" for material
Menu Pickers/submenu Material
Just move the mouse from the Menu to the Canvas and each pixol give the material
(not the texture !
Cool colorisation
Just miss the head :)

It looks like a glazed ceramic figure.
I like the first umbrella, but it's still cool. :tu:

Beautiful Character. I really understand you when you say "speicialize in one area".
Not that I have tried not to learn everything about everything.
I have tried every Major 3d Package out there in the past. Now I stick to 5 packages. Rhino 3d, Poser, Max, Zbrush for Painting, and Extreme Morph.
Whereas you learned Modeling the best, I have the love of texturing and lighting.
Modelling is still and probably be the lowest of my learning. Texturing is a whole new world.
Stick with what you do best, and the best will be better
