I am so happy! This is my first script, with notes and everything, that can be considered a full tutorial. It starts with creating a custom vertigree texture, then modeling an Aztec type Sun. Please do me a huge favor and try the script, even if you are not particularly interested in the resultant image. I worked about 5 hours on it, and would appreciate some feedback.

Thanks, and happy ZBrushing!

SunIdol.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_file-1032644251ktp.zip) The script only works on 1.5 and does resize the document. My apologies for not making it 640X480 for future 1.5 demo users.

Edit: Thanks, Stonecutter for the correction on the spelling of "verdigris"

I enjoyed this informative and fun to watch script. I have had trouble getting a good texture with ZBrush...(been resorting to Photoshop)..but I can see now how to do a nice texture using the tools in Z. Thanks so much for the script and keep em coming.

Well done! I was able to follow it no problem. I did learn something about my computer in the process. I need to clean off my hard drive. I wondered why there were so many lag spots in the script where it seemed there was nothing going on.. but I think it was my computer trying to find some more virtual memory space. I might need to increase my RAM too.

So thanks, your script accomplished more than just a tutorial... heee heee !

I just noticed that when you scroll the screen up and down, the sun appears to move. Freaky!

Nice script, Brian! :tu:

(And the 'movement' comes from 'Persistence Of Vision', which is the basis of why animation works... :D ;) )

Good work, Slosh, and I'm sure you don't by now need me to tell you your script works fine too. Thanks for sharing. :tu: :tu: :tu:

Thanks for this one. I will give it a try :ex
EDIT:I just looked at it and I must say that it is quite impressive
:ex: I must also add that I was completely lost after invert the sphere and the begining of modeling. I saw a lot going on, but I did not have a clue as to what a happening. That is the only area where I was lost. So forgive me for saying this, but to someone not as familar with the program as others, this area draws a blank for me.
DeeVee,
Joe.

I have to admit, Joe, that I started getting lazy by the time it got to modeling. Making notes to the script can give you a headache, because of all those numbers and mumbo jumbo. I will be sure, next time, to try and finish the annotations. Much of what you see is me trying different deformations and then "undo" because it wasn't quite right. The main deformations used for the rays were size (XY only) and twist (Z).

Thanks a lot. We appreciate your work Slosh.I tried your script and to show how happy I am with it I did a little fooling around, which I will share if you do not mind. Thanks for giving me the OK to post on your thread, it is appreciated. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1032716023mpg.jpg

Very stunning Slosh, both the model and the texture. And then the script. :D

I'll download it and try it out.

Hey Slosh,

As a noob & heavily reliant on scripts as teaching tools, I haven't seen a script as "noted" as yours before, pausing for every change. I must say, you tutorial style helps demystify Z workings at my pace... Stop and Slo =) Your tut exceeded what I've becomed accustomed to.

Thanks,

Slosh

I can't tell you how good that makes me feel, kandavu. Thank-you for saying so. Notating the scripts is not hard, per se, but very time consuming and makes you cross eyed. My hat's off to Davey and EZ and Digits, and all of the others who have taken the time to write scripts for us, including the tut scripts that came with 1.5. They put a lot of work into them, so if you haven't already watched the scripts, please do.

Thanks Slosh. As soon as I get the time I shall certainly check this out.
