Hello fellow ZBrushers,
Does anyone have good ZBrush and Animation integration samples
that you could share with us?
...like this one... (http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?p=173840#post173840)
I haven't seen much of this lately.
A movie link showing the animation would be cool! :tu:
If you could mention what was done in ZB and what other software was used to render and animate, that would be great.
:D

1.9 mbs - Triceratops Dinosaur roar.
well here's mine since your asking. Still quite a Zb noob. This started as a displacment test to try out the alpha brushes. Its started to look ok, so I
made a quick animation w/ some SFX.
sorry about the flickering lights, I wasnt aware my spinning lights in the scene would do that in an animation.

hope you like. - BTW its my first real ZB project. Modelled in lightwave.
This is a good idea. I'd like to encourage anyone who has used ZBrush in animation to post their results here. Be sure to specify whether you used displacement or normal mapping.

roguenroll,
Awesome job!!! You Rock !!!
This is exactly what I am talking about.
:tu: :tu: :tu:
Did you use displacement or normal mapping?

displacement map, one mapped to a displacement plugin and the same mapped to a separate bump channel. I also added some extra procedural bump mapping on top.
I'm gonna work on the textures, get better at the skin detailing, and put another test together soon.

If you feel like posting the other test when its done, I will love to see it.
Keep up the good work!

Hi Fouad,
The file was corrupted when I tried it.
Can you post it again?
Thanks!

Hi,
ZB_Artist, that's right now...
the next sample is a hand.
the cage made under max and rigged,
Imported in Zbrush, modelised and extract the Displacement map.
Then rendered under max with Vray renderer.

Edited: files are corrected.

Hi Fouad,
I got the files to work.
My Stuffit deluxe app was interfering with the renaming of a .zip file.
Awesome work with the animations.
It's an inspiration to see how ZB can be used for animation work.
Anyone else?
Fouad, you don't need to do it that way. Simply zip the avi. So it will upload as MovieName.zip When it's then extracted, the user will have MovieName.avi because that's the name of the file inside the zip file.

The other face ...
The hand is not textured yet.. just a basic shader of max.

Anyone else?
Worked the musculature details and other parts in zbrush to get displacements maps. Rendered with mental ray in Maya.

a very compressed (sorry for that) render of a turnaround to show the details is here :

Hi Alazan,
The image looks super cool!
I am having problems viewing the movie file on my Mac computer.
I have tried different players with different codec support, but still no luck.
Do you have a quicktime or other type of version of this movie file?
Thanks!

No problems with the avi file.
Windows media player plays it well for me.
Good work.
espectacular!!!!

Hi ZAMMPABOLLOS,
Are you on a Mac computer?

I tested the clip under several players, Quicktime, FFplayer, Windows Media Player9, Mplayer (plays almost anything) - and nadda. Oh well, must be a proprietary codec.

You are right Jason.
The codec used is not for the general audience. It only works on the PC.
Quicktime format and some .avi's, with the proper codec, will work on multiple platforms.
Maybe Alazan can covert it for us and post it again so that everyone can see his cool work.

Hey Faroud, just a pointer - the hand is not straight across the nuckles. Your motion is nice but the hand looks like its folded at the knuckles. I have run into this a lot over the years with modelers and animators, so I'm just offering advice. Hold your hand the way you are displaying and curl one finger at a time and the thumb. Also notice where you have to place bones to get the correct bends. If done right I can assure you the realism is stunning and will make all the effort you have done thus far POP! Oh yeah, bones are not always where you think to get the correct animation.

Thx Jonzran for your advice ( :) )
I'm not an animator and I'm still learning. and you right, many error, but all is good for teaching, and the next hand will be better, I think
Ok, I prepared a video for the mac guys, its a sorenson 3, hope there is no problem with that. And thanks again guys for the nice comments.
u can get it here:

Thanks Alazan!!!
I can now see the video on my Mac.
Nice Lobo! Awesome musculature details.
:tu: :tu: :tu:
If you do any extra animation with Lobo, I will love to see it.
I can picture this character in all kinds of action situations.
Cheers!
