View Full Version : question: orientation of zspheres?
hi all,
i'm new to the world of zbrush and i have to admit, that i do not really understand how the orientation of zSpheres affects the topology of my meshes.
is there something to be aware of, when building models? which side represents the 'front' and which the 'back' of a sphere (dark/light)?

There is no front or back to the spheres (at least not in the imperical sense). The coloring of the spheres is put there to help with placement and orientation to other spheres. If you hit the A key when setting up your spheres you will be able to see a preview of the mesh. You can then discern whether the mesh has twisted or not. At that point you can then rotate the spheres to realign the mesh. The coloring of the spheres helps implicitly with this. Refer to the ZScripts included with 2.0 for further information on setting up a ZSphere object. :)
To get a good start when drawing Zspheres(or any object) you can hold down the shift key while drawing the initial zsphere. The Z axis will be going into the screen, X axis horizontal and Y axis is aligned vertically.
thanks a lot guys, i think i got it!

I understood that with ROTATE and the ALT key you can rotate ZIFs. If I rotate a parent, the child zifs rotate too. Is there a way to prevent that?
