I just want to whole heartedly thank you for your hard work and amazing dedication during the creation of ZBrush 1.5 and over the last couple of days. ZBrush 1.5 really shows all the hard work you have all done, and I for one am very gratefull. Thank You.

And to the people who are still sweating over this. Chill out. Consider yourselves lucky, all you are doing is waiting. The team members at Pixologic have been sweating it out just as long. Afterall you are getting this amazing peice of software (and I do mean amazing for free, utterly free. The only cost to you is the wait. If you ask me, it's a killer deal.

I am glad someone beat me to the thank yous! I think these guys deserve all of our thanks for this FREE upgrade! It is truly amazing, and they have put up with a lot trying to get this out. I understand the frustration of not having 1.5, but we were all still able to use 1.23. It's not like we were completely cut off. Anyway, thank you Pixologic for this great upgrade! :tu: :tu:

Just one thing though, MJ how do you arrive at

"utterly free"? Are you saying that you have a cracked version?

MJ

No MrFrog. I am saying that Zbrush 1.5 is Lightyears ahead of Zbrush 1.23b

If you bought Adobe Photoshop 5.5, and then saw that Adobe Photoshop 6.0 came out, then saw that Adobe Photoshop 7.0 came out, do you think Adobe would be willing to give you those newer versions for free just because you purchased 5.5? Hell no.

Yes, but MJ, when I buy Adobe products I know I'm buying that version number.

When I bought ZBrush 1.23, I was actually buying the 1.5 version.

Apples and Oranges in software sales.

But we DID get a nice 3D app at a VERY good price. And Ofer got good testing/bug trackers.

EVERYbody wins.

Kathy, hmmm your right also, however I guess it's which way you look at it.

If you were to buy ZBrush 1.5, you'd be paying around $399 for it.

If your purchased Zbrush 1.23b, you paid around $299 for it. Two largly different applications, two very different prices.

Unlike Photoshop upgrades, usually (aside from the recent 7.0 version) there is not much difference. However the difference between 1.23b and 1.5 is rather substantial.

Instead of Pixologic making you pay $399 to get their newest version of the software, they offered it for free, it cost you nothing more.

MJ
Depends which way you look at it I guess.

No, they never offered it for free. As far as I recall it was offered for about $300 which included the V1.5 ugrade.

I'm told that photshop 6 was a major upgrade particularly in the way it handled profiling. Not to mention the addition of editable type, new layer blending and vector graphics.

Well, I've only just downloaded 1.5 so can't comment yet beyond the wonderful things we've seen during beta testing.

However I would say that even if 1.5 had NEVER come out, I would still regard the £250 for 1.23B as one of my top 3 software investments at any price. (And don't forget, we've been promised a further "bonus" free upgrade!)

So a big thanks to Pix and the team for their ongoing dedication and hard work, and to this Forum for adding considerably to the pleasure of working with the program.

I couldn't agree more. I, being an aspiring independant game developer, don't have much in the way of funds. You have not only provided the best modeler I have ever seen, but at the best price and with the most features! Wohoo! All that, and it's downright fun to mess around with. Thanks for all your hard work pixologic! You rule!

After probably a year or more of knowing about ZBrush's existence, the impending price hike finally lured me in. I haven't done anything of significance with ZBrush yet -- I'm still watching and re-watching tutorials, learning the basic techniques and patterns of doing common tasks -- but I think I'll soon be having a lot of fun with it.

Anyway, I just spent the last couple hours enjoying the new tutorials for 1.51, and I figure I should chime in with my own congratulations/thanks. I'm glad to have found such a powerful and cleverly conceived drawing program.

Thanks Pixologic! You all have worked so hard at putting 1.5 together, and from my little bit of watching scripts and doodling it is totally amazing. It's not just an update, it more like a totally new software with all my old favorites from 1.23 :tu:

On top of the great work on the software, the staff is some of the best I have ever seen. When my hard drive crashed, Verna was right there helping me get started again. Today, because I had bought ZBrush prior to the digital rivers switch, I had an e-mail back from Aurick in no time. You guys are the greatest, thanks :D

I bought 123 with no knowledge about 1.5 to me this is 'free' I think it's totally awesome on Pix's part to give this for free with the drastic change in the program I would expect to pay an upgrade price. (That I most likely wouldn't be able to afford.)

Thank you Pix

And thanks to the team that got NO sleep getting this out to us. You couldn't pay me enough to maintain my cool when the sharks start circling and snapping at my heels. You guys went above and beyond the call of duty on that score ~s~

Now, I'm off to play some more.

Thanks again.
