In my object preview window, the object is divided by the plane down the middle (front to back)...when I skin the object..the skinned version is not complete...parts of it are missing and it looks like the parts that are behind the preview window. How can I move the object completely in front of the plane in the preview window..or what am I doing wrong that makes the model, when skinned...have missing parts?
Also, this is an intermittent problem. It does not happen with every model.

Hope I explained this right

I had that problem a lot. It wsa Slosh who pointed out the cause. If you don't use auto size you have to size it yourself in the modifcation window. You have size, offset etc there and that's where you have to fix it.

It's tricky. I've messed up a lot, but "they" say that using auto size isn't as good as not... so...

I will try that. Thank you for your reply.

I always use Autosize DLee. I find it "easier" for me to edit the skinned mesh this way than the other. ;)

Yeah mentat, I use autosize usually now to, only because I hate fighting the clipping thing.

Can't remember who said to turn autosize off or the real reason why. Something about making the model better, but I haven't seen a difference (then again... I need more skill to be saying which is better.)

hello! I'm not sure of the answer, and of course don't ask me why,but it works most of the time: I do an autosize skin, then, because it is better, a more defined skin, more resolution but the same(10)value of skin ,and when done after the autoisized one, it works... Mystery! Friendly, M.

Autosize is fine, and in most cases works like a charm. I think, as Aurick pointed out, that the reason one would NOT use autoresize, is because ZBrush treats autoresized objects like a single sphere, meaning that using Draw or Move on a stomach, for example, would pull adjacent polygons on the arms, legs, chest, etc. To combat this, after skinning with autoresize on, simply perform Deform:Size:XYZ a couple of times. This helps me alot. I am not sure how Mentat or others are able to refine their models without doing this, but each of us has our own techniques and what works best for some may not work at all for others.
