I would like to thank the participants of our last Challenge. (http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=20460) Our next challenge:

MNC---Dreams.jpg (http://javascript%3Cb%3E%3C/b%3E:zb_insimg%28%27911%27,%27MNC---Dreams.jpg%27,1,0%29)

::Anything in or of dreams, nightmares, and aspirations.

::As much as we are using 3D objects, we would like to place a strong emphasis on the 2D aspect of ZBrush and its tools. This can be either in extensive postwork or 2D from start to finish. Native Zbrush models or low poly imports too.

::Wireframes, progression Modeling, and/or screenshots of your progress. This helps others to see workflow. Models, ZScripts, and other support materials are always welcome.

::Time Limit is one week.

::Nobody is too good or not good enough. This is open to everyone.

:: Add a [Gallery Entry] text below your gallery entry.

Don't forget, if you wish to provide support material, by all means, upload zscripts, materials lighting setups or whatever you feel will help others.

what do u mean dreams?
is that means that we can sculpt a scary creature? :)

If scary creatures haunt your nights...sure, you could also do a pic that tells us what you "dream" of....ie that new cobra mustang or climbing mt everest one day! Or a nice dream you had last night about running naked thru a cornfield. With a :D dream theme all is possible!!;)

I was hoping for a more 3d oriented challenge but I will try my hand at some of the 2d tools.

Remember guys, I am not saying it is 2D, I am saying to emphasize 2D, even in postwork. As for dreams, it could be anything. This challenge also opens up areas of abstraction as well. So just let your mind take over. Sketch out some thumnails, take one or two to roughs, and then move to a final, 3d, 2d, or both. You could also just srtraight jump to a final piece and work it until you like it.
Look at the first post for more resources like links to other 2D ZPieces and ZScripts.

Strange that the topic would be dreams this week, as I have already been working on this picture for some time. This just gave me a reason to finish it...
This is me (I frequently fly in my dreams) and all is well and bright and beautiful for awhile but I always fly into something dark and unsettling. This represents that point at which I reach the dark part.

The human figure is originally an import. The sphere like background started out as a sphere, and the rest is painted into the picture, using several paint brushes, and a lot of different alphas with the smudge tool. The tree like thing is done using the snake hook brush.

Hi Yaron
Just load this script by Glen (a sort of mini Pencil case)
http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=4736&page=3&pp=15
And draw with your mouse (better with a pen graphic tablett)
Have happy Zbrushing!
No tut necessary

This was a dream I had some time ago, and I actually already had a handmade sketch of it, this Challenge kinda forced me to add some Z-work to it: Handmade Sketch+Surroundings+Some Smudging with ZBrush+Frame, Text and some Color Adjustments with Photoshop.

You know, I was just looking through the galleries of the challenges so far that we have had and something struck me. I wonder why these challenges don't attract more participation from all those new folks that have joined the forum within the last several months. For me these challenges have provided an opportunity to try a whole lot of new techniques and in some cases forced me to tackle something that I wouldn't have otherwise done. I have found my participation to not only be enjoyable, but a wonderful learning opportunity and a chance to challenge myself and share my results with others who are doing the same.

The other thing I was wondering about, is that there seemed to be a lot more comments and interaction between the participants then there is lately. And I wonder what that means. Any one got any ideas???

I agree with you NorthStarr,
the activity in the challenges has dropped noticable. I have learned a lot when I participated but I haven't taken on a challange since the 'bug' challenge as I usually run out of time and finish the task 2 weeks too late . There is surely the lack of time but also my lack of skill that prevents me from finishing.

I think, I might be wrong, many of the new users of ZB are working in the game industry and are not necessarily interested in the art side of ZB and see therefor little point in participating in a challenge.

I'll certainly come back to a chanllenge once Z2 is available for the Mac. October appear to become a interesting month ;)

It's going to be awesome when our MAC friends finally get their upgrade. They must have so much pent up frustration, I hope they blow this board away. We need it, this place is not what it used to be...sorry to say.

Yep I know what you mean sirQ. If it weren't for the challenges I don't know if I would be posting at all anymore. We used to be able to carry a thread for a long time with comments and stuff. The last time I posted something that wasn't for a challenge, I don't think anyone saw it at all. Maybe our Mac users will help pick up the spirit or something when they get their new ZB.
