Tonight folks, I lost my mind. Well only a little. I was trying to make a helmet for my orc and got frustrated with trying to use multimarkers. As a distraction I loaded my orc bod to tweak the hands and I accidently scaled them real big. I thought they looked cool so I continued playing with sizes and poses. In the end I still hadn't done the head. I started modeling and 20 minutes later Frankenstein emerged. I rendered him on a plane but that looked too boring so I built the box.

Yes he's silly, but so is spending my 4th of July weekend Z-brushing...I just can't stop...BUT, as an added bonus I can say I modeled Frankenstiens nipples! Not many folks can say that...

Anyway, I hope Big Frankenstein adds a little cheer to yer day and gives ya a few giggles...

Thanks for the props, guys. As for the hand, Vlad, I can't get the bloody things working with z-spheres. My middle and pointer finger keep fusing to each other, not to the palm. I'm SOOOO frustrated.

I used Glen's alien body as the basic form for my body, then I added the extra finger myself. I did not add the same number of zspheres as Glen's other fingers. This is probably the problem. I get good at something in Z-Brush but as soon as that happens something else raises its ugly head.

I'm gonna do a search of the forums for a good hand tutorial. Since this is my first body I modeled, it's inevitable that I screw it up somewhere. I just wish I didn't have to lose all my modeling to fix the hand. That is a definate problem with using z-spheres. Adding or removing a sphere kills the modeling. I can model a hand in Lightwave in 15 minutes. I guess eventually I'll learn in here too...just bummed at the moment...

Here is the problem! As you can see, the model at sub-D 1 shows both fingers connected to the same base poly on the central hand box...Now I gotta figure out how to subdivide that 1 box and my hand problem can be fixed. Any suggetstions?

I believe that you must just Increase the Intersection Resolution :) (menu Zsphere/Inventory)

I think you should rotate the hand Zsphere while holding alt key. I had this problem a while ago, and that was what solved it. Try to keep the finger linkspheres perpendicular to the "horizon" line between the two hand Zsphere's poles.

Edit
:: :: :: Nah, forget what i said :p I think Frenchy got the problem. But I think you should decrease Intersection Resolution (to some value below 5). That will tell Z to give more polys to the spheres that has more than 4 child zspheres.

Thanks for the help Cezar and Frenchy. I increased zsphere resolution and nothing happened. I decreased the resolution and it fixed the hand BUT got rid of all my modeling...
Well, I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and remodel the mesh, I guess...Damn shame wasting 6 hours of modeling, but that's what ya get when ya learn software I guess...I've come to the conclusion that Z-Brush is like a beautiful girlfriend with a nasty streak, most of the time she makes ya look good, but once in
a blue moon she'll kick ya really hard in the nads for no good reason...: )

(rubbing his swollen nads and wondering what he did to offend her...No Zbrush, that plug-in does not make yer ass look fat...)

I'm sorry for you Dickie. I am sure your next model will even be better than this one. And the time you spent in modeling hasn't been lost. It's just an experience. Keep up the amazing work.

Vlad, my friend, you have no idea how much those words encourage me. We all have bad days, but kind words always soften the blows. Thanks again, Bro!

Dickie....hehehe wasn't it you that posted somewhere to .....Save and save often?

not laughing too hard as I have been there and done that so many times that the Des Plaines river in Illinois flooded cuz of me this spring (lucky for me they blamed the rain ..phew!)

when you remake your dear fella.....up the rez for the palm sphere in the, about two thirds down, transform palette..... up it for the palm then turn it back down for the fingers....that should solve your hand problem.

And don't fret....ya learned some things when making this guy so all is not lost!

Very true, Aminuts! I have him saved all the way back to when he was a mod of Glen's alien bod. It's just that I didn't realize there would be a problem later.
In the end you are correct, I did learn a LOT with this, my first body, so it is by no means a wasted effort. And thank you for helping me see it all in perspective, my friend...: ))
