very original ...the RadarHopper...part bullfrog part bat....and very nice render on it too I might add. :tu: :tu: but I agree, that you need to add some nice eyes in this bad boy. That would set him off nicely. Keep up the original works.

cool model....add some eyes and the detailing and you got the sketch nailed!

I love the sketches in that book! When I was a million years younger and that book came out, I tried to sketch everyone of em. Had long forgotten about it til know....but come to think of it I remember trying to figure out out to model a few with POV when it was born.

Thanks for this....gives me loads of ideas!

That is really cool. I wish I would have thought of it. I thought the same thing when a saw a similar piece created in Blender recently. Wish I would have though of that too.

1st off GREAT looking model. It really doest have that zbrush look. Not that its bad to have that look, but sometimes you can just tell what it has been modeled with. But I to was working on a bat like creature but was having proglems with the wings. Can you give me a clue on how you did them. Or did you do them in a different program and bring them into Z.B.? I can see how to do it in other modelers but not with zbrush I was trying with the zsphears but didnt have luck. Well any pointers all you great artist could provide would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks to everyone here this group seems to be one of the best when it comes to helping others out! Thats hard to find!!

Wow thanks for the pointer on making the wings.. I was trying that but I must have been missing a step somewhere?? Wanted to say thank you for the time it took to give me that help!

PS looks like the textures are looking nice.. would be cool to make a hairy more bat like one.. well thats what I am going to try and do.. like a flying giant rat. ;) I'll post it if it's worth looking @ at all

PSS... EVERY DAMN PROGRAM SHOULD HAVE A SCIPTING LIKE ZBRUSH.. IT WOULD BE SO COOL TO WATCH MAYA OR MAX DOING THE STEPS SOMEONE ELSE HAS DONE AND THEN YOU CAN PICKUP WHERE YOU WANT TO IN THE LESSON.. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU COULD PAUSE AND REVERSE THE SCRIPT IN ZBRUSH.. BUT THAT MUSH BE IN V.2.5 :)

:EDIT: I see the step I was doing that was keeping me from getting wings is I was trying to use more then one zsphear in the length of the wings... if you use just two one to start one to end when you delete it well part of it you delte when you get that ghosting look but when you make the adaptive skin it make a flat surface. like the fish fin exmple I guess. Well I hope everyone understands what I am rambling about. I am falling in love with Zbrush... big time!!

nice! :tu: I'd vary the skin spec on the final as my only crit

edit: ack i was looking at page 2, ok for the current final it's much better, although still some tiny areas of higher spec over detail can go a long way

very, very nice model and texture! i have been watching this thread and it has progressed quite nicely. i also really liek the translucency in the wings, is that just how you textured it, or is that the material. i really like the final textured version and the desktop image. is that a painted background or a photo in the background. well whatever it is, it matches very nicely. keep posting!

Qn, Thank you for a real fun tutorial. However, I have a quick question for any one who can give me a step by step on this problem. So far the only way I've been able to paint a 3d object is to give it a blank texture and using Projection Master for the colors and textures. However, the way it appears Qn just switches to another 3d tool simple brush, single layer brush, contrast brush and he does some painting then somehow returns to an editable set of wings. How does this happen???

Malcolm Zaloon
02-05-05, 08:01 PM
oh.. i want to know it too!!

When i exit of edit mode, and switch to other tool, i never can back to edit mode of my object.. (zsphere structure)

How to do it!?!?!? I see your tutorial, but i does not understood too...

Thanks!!

... and the legs?? heheheeh

;)

That's some really lovely modelling going on there. Froud is one of my favourite artists and it's great to see someone do his work justice with a 3d image. Now imagine an entire movie in 3d based on his character designs.
