View Full Version : GargoyleDemon, Check out how to make 'sun'rays & download Aztec Soljaz WaterScript
Hey, good some 'free time'on my hands, if there is such a thing nowadays :p .
So I had all the time to do work on this one nice and easy, and finetune the materials to fit the objects nicely.
So here's my new piece. Any questions or remarks? Please tell me ;)

the top part is interesting.. have you considered putting it in a glass bowl?
the top thing seems like a rim of a glas bowl, but the effect is lost when going lower in the image.
sort of like a VERY WEIRD aquarium.

Nice stuff! Cool face. Are your top light effects just colored paint brush strokes or did you obtain them some other way (they're great)?
Well guys,
The rays are painted, what you do is you make a new layer (always use a new layer when you're going to make some drastical changes that would be hard to undo), make sure you can paint on the layer over the objects so you might wanna use Plane3D to paint on it (maybe a couple) so you'll be able to move your rays back and forth to set them up deeper or closer in the image.
The actual painting goes like this: you color youre Plane3D with the color most fitting to the enviroment (in my case it was black) and you use white color brush (only color no zadd or material) I used mostly Alpha 1,2,3 and 52. When you paint, set the intensity on a low value and if you want a stronger ray somewhere, just go over it with the brush again.
After you've finished painting with the simple brush you might realise that there's something missing... Now, the secret to the shiny 'sun'rays is the ShadingEnhancerBrush, use it to give the rays the shinyness that you want.
Now that you have your Plane3D with the desired rays on it set up, you make the plane (partially) transparent by using the ClonerBrush as shown in the transparent tutorial in the help menu (ZScripts).
Hope I haven't left out any detail, and if there are many interested I could make a Tut on this one or, just let me know.
Hey Aztec soljA, I really wouldn't mind if you'd share your WaterMaking skills with me, cuz I don't really have a concrete routene for making water, I just mess around a bit with it till I get a nice water effect. This time I was aiming for some hot steaming magic water, what do you think? Was this help offer a 'let's make a good water technique' thing or more of a 'U-Jin, you really could use some help one your liquidskills' :p ?
Anyway I'd love some info on making water and maybe also fine watersprinkles and sea-foam, could really come in handy on my next project.
By the way, my Z2 is buggin' sometimes, so I did the 'transparency thing' in PhotoShop this time, which is the same thing (works the same).
But experiment some and feel free to send your results here
Happy Zbrushin' y'all,
U-Jin

have you tried zipping it? sometimes you get a bit more compression that way.
if you saved the script of the making of the tool upload that instead and say watch this script 1st and save tool then use script 2.

Oh yeah am done, here hopefully everyone finds it helpful somehow...
Yes I did Zip them but even though they were still to big, so I made a few modifications...
there ;) h.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200407/user_file-1084035484jro.zip)h2.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200407/user_file-1084035598xmf.zip)
My complements on your script, Aztec. Nicely done :tu: .
First off I didn't notice that there are two zip-files next to eachother but then I saw the h2 so there had to be a h1, got them both now and just played your script, it's cool, I like it, thanx alot :)
I love the fact that the ShadingEnhancerBrush still works on this material as it should, unlike on the default transparent materials.
After watching Aztecs script again, I kinda played with the water and  look what came up to surface
So I did a 5 min. of fine-tuning and an another 5 min. with a bit of postwork in Photoshop and here it is :D :p
