Argh!
Z2 looks awesome, can not wait until it comes out for the mac. Looking at all these cool new features in action is pure torture!
While we wait... I was just wondering if XCode Tools were (is) used to compile the MAC version of Z2? Anyone know?

It is a good question. Is ZB2 Carbon, or Cocoa? Xcode, or Codewarrior? All good questions indeed.

I'm not involved in either developing or beta testing ZBrush, but I too am waiting for the Mac version of v.2.
Just wanted to let you know that it's most definitely NOT a Cocoa application. Cocoa is a set of API's (application programing interfaces) and frameworks available on MacOS X.
Read here for more info (http://developer.apple.com/cocoa/), if you're interested in Cocoa.

If you aren't working on porting Z2 to Mac, how in the hell do you know if it uses the Cocoa API or not?

I can't imagine them using cocoa for this app. They do their own interface and already have their own code base for windows (C++ I'm guessing). It would be silly to use a rapid development environment using another language and OO model just for fun. In fact because of the nature of cocoa it could be signifigantly harder to optimize.
Oh, and CFM is a pain to work with, I hope they're avoiding it...
Really though, does it matter? I just want ver 2 so I can make stuff using the new features... I'm upgrading to 2GB of cl2 ram and a 15k RPM SCSI raid just for my art apps, and version 2 is one of two main reasons...

I don't know if it's a little known fact, or something, but you can use a butt load of C++ in Cocoa. Maybe more than your aware of. There was a terminal call used by Next developers that was built into previous versions (I don't know about Xcode) of apples developer tools that that initialised a ton of C++ in Cocoa, and added all the documentation into the man pages from the terminal.
You can still write Mach-O apps in C++ anyway I think.
The trick was posted at http://www.MacOSXHints.com a long time ago, but I couldn't seem to come up with it in a search. But I do remember it.
I did get some developer documentation on mixing C++, and Obj-C (http://developer.apple.com/documentation/ReleaseNotes/Cocoa/Objective-C++.html) from Apple.com in a google search , but it's not exactly what I was looking for.

I'll be there later this summer. Probably water-skiing Minnetonka, then do some fishing up towards lake Milax. Then maybe jump the border into Canada, and fish some more. I can't wait. I love it there. Year round. I miss winters the most. I know most of you hate it. I can't get enough snowmobiling, or skiing in to satisfy. Although I jump state to ski. There is no real skiing in MN. ;) Accept cross country. But does anybody actually do that anymore?
