No, he just had a seizure due to sensory overload when they were performing the phosphene mapping, but he recovered right after that.

As far as I know, it's only been tested on people who have had sight earlier, but lost their sight later on, for one reason or another. It'll be curious to see if this would work for people who have been blind since birth, since they would have to learn to "see from scratch" so to speak.
