Greetings everyone! I just got back from Nashville. I've been gone since last Tuesday. What a trip that was! My original flight schedule was to fly out of Tulsa to St. Louise and then from St. Louise to Nashville. The carrier I was on was American Airlines. Everything was going fine...typical flight. About 20 minutes into it there was a loud BANG! and the whole plane shook. The passenger next to me commented "That was unusual." I looked at him and said "That didn't feel like any turbulance I've ever experienced before!" About five minutes went by and then the Pilot anounced over the intercom "Ladies and Gentlemen we are going to be heading back to Tulsa for an emergency landing due to mechanical failure with one of the engines." He assured us there was no need for concern but to listen to the attendants and follow their instructions. At one point one of the attendants came back through and was telling us not to open the doors unless she was screaming at us to do so! Talk about confidence builder!! It seemed like an eternity creeping back to the Tulsa terminal on one engine and you could feel it in the way the plane flew and those attendants did not look happy at all! All along the way I thought of only two things...my wife and my daughter. I have never been so scared in my life. The Pilot told us that there would be emergency vehicles waiting on the runway by request of the crew and that we should not panic. Well we finally landed but it took the whole runway to stop the plane. Once we did they told us the emergency crew would be inspecting the "brakes" before we would be allowed to move on to the terminal. After that they were going to acertain whether the plane could be fixed and carry on to it's destination or whether we would disembark. There wasn't anyone on that plane that was staying! We were all ready to get off. They finally told us that we would be disembarking. I've never felt more relieved in my life! After it was all said and done I was re-routed through Dallas to Nashville. I didn't have much choice but to go on- I was with my boss and we had an important meeting to go to. First thing I did when I got home was hug and kiss my wife and child. I thank God for delivering me back to my family! My words of wisdom to everyone here....never ever take anything for granted! You never know when it will be taken away!
