Very Nice, Southern.
Have you seen the clear tubing that has woven steel re-inforcement? I work in the plant automation industry and eventually want to produce some works that incorporate a lot of the elements that you are starting to show off such as the hoses and attachments.
I have lots of catalogs at work for reference materials, and I've seen many types of clear, re-inforced, and armored cables and hoses that would be very cool to recreate in ZBrush.
Great pic. :tu:

I agree with Stonecutter, the less sleep you get the better it is for us! I like the spooky darkness this one in contrast to the shiney metallic. Makes it look like we are viewing thru an atmosphere not necessarily made up of oxygen. My mind is working trying to figure out what those hieroglyphics mean!!
A llama? a Bull and a Boat. Or maybe the cargo on the boat?
LaBullShip??? :)
oh yeah i have another quistion:how do you get it to fade into the darknesslike that,do you use the fog render and mess with the depth and color ,atlest thats what i think im probably wrong  :D
South, nice pic, as usual. That distinctive style you have is outstanding. I'm really glad your system is back in action. What did you end up doing with it to get it going?
Dom, I believe those aren't modified cylinders at all, but ring3D tools instead. If you don't want the ring to be a complete circle, just adjust the Tool:Modifiers:Initialize:Coverage control to make it a half circle or whatever you want.
But you could give a cylinder that shape by using the Sbend control under Tool:Modifiers. Make sure you are only using one axis (x,y, or z) control at a time if you want to make the ends of the cylinder curve towards each other and be able to lay flat.

thouroghly connected... absolutely fantastico, southern! ah, the flares! love the hieroglyphs, too... are those home-made? top smooth depth, excellent!
dom: for the bending you might want to take a look into here (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000059), though i dont know if that is what southern is doing.

QUICK TIPS AS I`m NOW TIRED :)
This image is a happy accident and took minutes.
1. The darkness is BLACK coloured fog and depth cue with a little post work. Dead easy really.
2. The hoses are 3D Rings with less than 360 degrees. I move them about a bit using MOVE in the transform panel with a very low DRAW setting (5-10) so it doesn`t mess things up.
3. I very often render an image and save it out then re-import it to do some 2D work on it as if it was in Photoshop. And as mentioned, the flares are photoshop anyway.
I now have literally thousands of ZTools in hundreds of subdirs. I keep every ZTool I have every made (every cog from the ZBorg etc) on 3x30 Gig drives and on CD`s that I burn. Remember, I bought this AMD just for ZBrush so I`m a lucky lad.
ps. I have a s@@t-hot wife who totally understands me. :) :) :)
