I guess this is becoming boring, but here's a shrimp I modelled and rendered in Zbrush this morning
http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads0/user_image-1001590170slg.jpg

I modelled it over a background plane of *this*:

http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads0/user_image-1001590201krz.jpg

the Ztool itself is not good at all, and I've only tricked Zbrush to think I did a good job :)

however, whoever would need the northern shrimp ztool, only has to ask me for it.
I'm getting the feeling that I'm not helping anyone in this forum, so I might as well give some ztools away.

Throw it on the Bar-bee!

:tu:

Christos, I'm sure it's pretty simple, but can you tell us how you created the floating particles? I didn't mention that you needed to add these to your previous pic because you mentioned that it was a beta and I figured you would use them in the final version. Sure enough, your next picture has floating particles in the water.

Thanks,

Jay

certainly, jaycephus.

I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you a little, as the floating particles were done in photoshop. however, it's easy:

create two or three transparent layers in photoshop, overlying your image.

with the brush tool, add spots from 1 to 10 pixels in diameter (or more), at various brush transparency values. Should look like a sparse starfield.

when you're happy with the result, apply a motion blur on each of the layers. (filters> blur> motion blur)

You may opt, as did I in my image, to use slightly different angles in the motion blur filter, for each layer, in order to create the illusion of turbulence.

here's the pics:

hope it's been helpful

christos, there isn't anything boring about this image. Nothing at all. If you could have heard what popped outta my mouth when I saw this... Well, let's just say I was amazed. Tricked Zbrush? I don't know about that. What I see here is some very fine modeling and texturing. Very, very well done.

Chris, you're charting previously undiscovered ZBrush territory. I've seen a lot of abstract and impressionistic pictures, and lots of extremely high quality images of highly imaginative things. You're the first that I can recall, though, who has focused on photorealistic images of reality (or as in the case of the Charon creature, not real but so convincing that a person could be fooled).

This is not boring at all. In truth, I find that I'm eagerly anticipating everything that you produce. Keep 'em coming!

As for the shrimp, if I hadn't known that it was a ZBrush image, I would have thought it was a photograph. Awesome job!

thank you all guys. I'm touched. really.

pixolator, your skill with encouraging words is only surpassed by your skill at tutorials and artwork, but then, you already know that.

impending thank you as well. I am awed by members so ancient :D and venerable writing favourable comments on my quote, art, unquote. :)

cneofotistos = christos (a form of chris, only it isnt derived from a common saint -see St Christopher- but by Christ Himself. that's peculiar orthodox christian stuff to you. and to think I'm not even a theist! :) )

neofotistos is my surname. fos = phos like in phosphorus. means light in ancient greek.

so neo - photistos means newly -lit, or more particularly newly-baptized.

I know most people have a hard time pronouncing it, so I had a go at letting you know what it means. sorry if I overdid it :)

Another great image! The images that you've posted so far are outstanding. The details you include on the images are so lifelike. It may not seem like much to you, but just viewing the work you and others have done is an inspiration. I used to enjoy sculpting and would sculpt one of a kind dolls and knick knacks. Over time, I grew to busy to do it very often. I had tried to learn 3d modeling once, but even a simple object was pretty hard to do with the usual programs. ZBrush is so much like modeling and so easy to use. I find myself looking forward to seeing all the new posts. I look forward to learning the program and I am enjoying creating things again. So, thanks pixologic and all the great members on the board, and Keep posting all your great works, cneofotistos!

Damn! I meant aurick. so really stupid of me. I'm sure you can forgive me?

and, thank you Tag. it seems a lot to me to be an inspiration for others, because I have considered all people who have inspired me worthwhile. it's nice to know others think of me fondly as well.

LOL, Chris. Being confused with Pixolator could hardly be considered insulting, at all. Greatly misplaced, considering how little I know, comparatively, but still a compliment. :) But "ancient?" And "venerable?" Joe and I both ought to whack ya a couple for that one! heh heh

Seriously, I just have to say that it's a pleasure to see you having so much fun. And that goes for all the other newbies out there, too! (Yep, that "ancient" crack put you back a step. :D)

thanx, juandel. I dont't see why zbrush should produce only impressionistic pictures. It's not the only thing it can do better than other computer art applications.

To drive the point home; I've been using 3Dstudio for 2 years, and abandoned it almost completely just a week after I got zbrush. I'm hook(brush)ed :)
