View Full Version : Making DNA

I was looking through some of Frenchy_Pilou's cool work at Renderosity and he has these great repeating patterns that look like DNA. So I was wondering if there was a quick way to make repeating strands like that using deformations.
I'm very new to Z so I apologize if this is rudimentary stuff. But if somebody can give me a tip on how to do 2 intertwined strands like that I'll work on it and post something. Uh ... but don't expect much.
Thanks :)

Something rotating like this ?
you can rotate any object 3d in the space : so draw the first module as you want :)
So you must use the Cameyo's Zplace script and look all my Tip Tuts about this script (see my signature)
The process is that
:b3: Draw your form in 2 D
:b3: Grabb it
:b3: Make alpha 3D : clear the canvas
all above is the same if you take any 3D object :)
:b3: Launch the script
:b3: Draw your object and EDit move rotate as you want for the first position
:b3: "Get status"
:b3: Input X,Y,Z value of Degre of angle rotation
:b3: Enable "Snaping"
:b3: And draw with the numeric keyboard as with a Logo Tortoise !!!
(numeric key board is use like arrow key)
All that takes 30 second
Hope this help!

Zplace last version Rev B (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=011372&p=5) (slide down page)

here the object is just 2 balls
Alas there is a little bug for the YRotation that cameyos hasn't resolved(maybe in next version :)
So your DnA will be some exotic ! That is not a reason for don't make crazzy forms :)
If you enable "mark" you will obtain at the end of the Process a Multimarkers !
You can transform it on Polymeshes (one only 3DObject) (you can export it too
And you can restart with it for a new turn :D
Fractal isn't it ?
