One of my favorite new features is the Cavity shading added to most of the materials. Combine this new feature with GI shading and ZMode rendering and the renders and shadows can be awesome.

I'm glad you put these up. After seeing the zscript in Z2 I thought this shader might be a bit 'overbearing', but I see now that when used with subtlety you can achieve stunning results :tu:

Seems really cool and your models are awesome as usual. Now if only the name would not remind me of a visit to the dentist... ;)
all of those are great :)
... any tips on the texturing/painting of the frog?
Also you use Lightwave ... I almost bought it in anticipation of 8 ... but I got a great deal on Maya Complete ($900.00) ... so i got it instead ... but I do like working in LW ... what do you think about whats comming in LW8?.
Sometimes late at night when I am pushing buttons, painting, modelling, dividing, texturing, smoothing.I wonder if is worth it.
Then I see things like this and know it is.
Just don't tell me they were knocked out in 5 minutes.
I have to keep some pride

These are great Southern. I was hoping you would put the frog up so I could get a better look at it.

Stunning... I love the cyborg. I had a quick play with the cavity settings, and had a lot of fun in a very short time. I can tell already, they're going to be another of my favourite features :)

southern .. just a question .. is the Cavity shader exported as texture? Or is only into the zbrush render?
Great models, as usual.
Thanks

Maybe there's a new way to do this in Z2, but for the old way to create material maps see this thread (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=013523).
I assume the exported alpha channel could be used to adjust the colour map in PS; with the new auto-update feature in Z2 this would even be relatively easy with AUVtiled textures.
I find the marquette photos a little deceiving, though!
The renders towards the bottom of the page are pretty, too...but I would be careful with mixing that stuff up! Some people may misunderstand.

hi abe
you need to make sure the material you are using has cavity shader options...you can do this by going to the material menu (in z2 only not the demo) and looking at the material attributes.
you will see there a several for cavity shading...you can set these how ya like then make sure best and shadows are on for rendering to see them.
here is a link to a mat (http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=21606&highlight=super+sculpey)I posted a while back that I believe has some settings...try it out and experiment for yourself.

Dunno what the original pics were, only the last link is still active
well it was originally posted in 2004, so the links are likely to be broken.
..and there was me thinking Glen had put up some new work to see :-(
