I just wanted to mention that Zbrush just crashed on me when using 3D brush after using alpha brush. I think one of the brush alphas in the alpha palette may be at fault. let me see if i can reproduce it.

wow, i was actually able to reproduce this one..........i first imported a PSD image as alpha and used alpha brush to paint. then i switched from the import alpha to brush "00" alpha(the planar square one) and changed tool to 3D brush, after a few strokes I got the crash. I think I isolated the problem, the "00" , "27", "53" brushes from the alpha palete are the culprit. they crash every time i use them with 3D brush. I tried the other alpha choices and worked fine, but when i switched to "00" or "27" or "53", CRASH!

this is part of error report:
"AppName: zbrush.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: zbrush.exe
ModVer: 1.0.0.1 Offset: 00138a92"

my system spec:
733 meg PIII, Gforce 2 GTS card, 756 meg RAM, windows XP proffessional

Hi Talos72, I saw your alert about 00,27,and 53. I gave it a try on my Mac G3 and had no problems. I hope you get help with your problem. In the mean time, I came up with a beautiful image based on your alpha problem ;)

Way to turn adversity into triumph, Zoid!
This is a beautiful and mystical looking image. :tu: :tu: :tu:
Talos, thanx for the heads-up, and I'll try to reproduce the crash tomorrow, and get back to you if I succeed in crashing the program. (What a weird thought...trying to crash ZEE!)

hey zoid....did you by any chance try the alphas with 3D brush specifically? can't really tell from your artwork.....very nice piece by the way! ;)

Hi :)
When reporting a possible bug or system incompatibility, please include the version number of ZBrush that you are using as well as basic system information (operating system, system memory and such) and any other information that will allow us to reproduce and determine the cause for such problem (as you did by including your system specs and the exact alpha used).

talos, i could not reproduce your problems with 1.23b on an imac... i did import a .psd as alpha, used the alpha-brush, then switched to 3d-brush and used them alphas you mentioned in different modes... nothing as nice as Zoids showed up, but there was no crash or any other problem either :)

yup, as usual any computer I own will crash every now and again playing about with ZB.

Same thing happened to me....

Juandel, I found out that I don't even need to import any alpha prior. Just using those three native alphas with the 3D brush crashes the app within a few seconds. ya.....for now I am just staying away from those specific alpha choices.

'Morning all . . . :)

If I may add to this thread: Talos72, I gave your procedure a try a short while ago, & out of 6 tries I got 6 crashes. Every time I used an imported alpha image with the "Alpha Brush" tool, everything went fine, but as soon as I attempted to paint using the "00" alpha image with the "3D DepthBrush" over top on my first strokes, ZBrush crashed every time. :(

Have a good one . . . Mark.

( ZBrush version 1.23b / PIII 500 / 512 mgs. ram / TNT2 Ultra - 32 mgs. video ram / Windows 98SE / DirectX 8 )
