If you wanted to apply an alpha to just part of a three-d object, like one side of a box, how would you do it? Or is that what the stencil tool is for?

Thanks.

Gary, what method are you using to draw the star on the cube? Thats the part I'm missing.

Hi Lobo
Gary will correct me if I am wrong :)
:b3: When you are in edit Mode "T" choose any Alpha (here a star)
:b3: Press the Control Key (Ctrl)
:b3: Place your mouse out of the cube and drag it
:: The star is drawing on the cube
(you can draw anywhere you wish, but you must begin out of the cube ! )
:b3: Clear the impurity with same method but with the alpha 0
:b3: Inverse the Selection
:b3: Apply any deformation (here Inflate)
That's all
Have Happy Zbrushing

Ps For see all that
you can decrease the speed of Zscript and enable "Show Action" :)

Hi Kevin
For the Stencil Use look at the Script Primers inside Zbrush :)
With the Gary method above you can draw just one star (and not absolutly anywhere as you want and with any size)
So You must use a stencil for place and size but with it will be just "painting" so for a 3D model it's not the solution !
The real solution for a 3DModel is a mix of Alpha & Stencil :)
Example you want many stars in 3D on a real Model3D on one face
follows this steps
:b3: Create your cube3D
:b3: Take a front view in a wish size
:b3: Draw a similar "square" upper with Brush paint + alpha 0 + Zadd off + Rgb Only + Drag Rect
:b3: Use the Stencil for drawing any alpha mask :Place and size with the "Space Bar" + PaintBrush Flat color 0
:b3: Grabb it = :: you have now the Alpha with many stars :)
:b3: Apply the above "Mask Gary" method post = :: you have a realy model3D with many stars on a face or 2
Have Happy Zbrushing 3D Modeling !

Thanks, I got to try this and I got it to work. Hooray! Thanks again.

Just curious,...why did we set the draw size to 1 in the script?

Hi Kevin
In general when the draw size is "1" it's for just choose one point in Edit Mode
or make a precise move. It's a reduction to the minimum of an "influence sphere"
With Zspheres work it's quasi indispensable !
In this Script I don't remember
