I wasn't going to post it as there seems to be such a huge proliferation of dragons here recently but I thought the material was rather neat so I will share the image with you. I will post the material shortly. This image is colored with materials and lights only (except for the teeth and eye). I call it the Never Ending Dragon because since I first beta tested I have been trying to make a dragon I like for an image I am working on. I am getting closer to something more along the lines of what I envisioned.

Neato material! There is something lobsterlike about this guy which takes dragons in a unique direction!

Well, you have done it once again...totally awe-inspiring! I love it!
Material is excellent too...very wet crustation!
Is the smoke technique there the same as you told me in the ZSeal post?

As for the flood of dragons... the world could use more... ;)
Man, I am just really excited about all of this...I will calm down now.

Once again, Great stuff man!!!

I thought the same thing as Digits. I think it's those horned scale things across the length of his nose.

Nice work, Mentat!

really neat! I have just one thing on my mind.. Can't you remove hes ears? It would look much better. I never seen a dragon with ears. Otherwise it rocks! :tu: :tu: :tu:

"Pete's Dragon" had ears. ;)

Mahlikus: Yes it is the same technique I described to you with fog however I also applied the shading ehnancer and highlighter brushes to the image after exporting it and importing it into a new layer

Deks: lol I guess it could have a tempanic membrane instead but then again all the classic Dungeons & Dragons style dragons have ears of some sort or another.

Aurick: What is Pete's Dragon??

That's what I was talking about Deks. I just went for something a little different is all. It's a wip. Undoubtedly it will change many more times before I am happy with it to use in my final image.

I think the funktion of them are to help the dragon when is flying. Help him Stering up,down, right and left.

Very nice WIP Lonnie...Your material experiments have been very interesting to watch...And I actually like the ears precisely because they are unusual in a dragon illustration...To me, repetition in art is all too common, and I like new ideas over endless stereotypical interpretation...

There may have been a plethora of dragons of late, but I'm glad you posted this guy, Mentat. He's a true aristocrat among the many. Excellent work, and all the better for being that little bit different. :tu: :tu: :tu:

Theres nothing wrong with dragons! I would model one myself but I really dont have time to do any projects right now. Great image as usual Mentat, just remember just like dragons you can never make too many zscripts either (hint hint) :D
I personally would LOVE to see a classic D&D dragon modelled just because those illustrations are so details and amazing looking. But originality is also good and I think the ears go well with the rest of the dragon. :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:

As promised here is the material used in this image. Note that for best results the lighting (included in the ZIP file) should also be used. This is for version 1.51 only
