View Full Version : Selecting polys?

I'm very interested to find out if anyone has a way of selecting/painting polygons on a model.

I've got a low rez model and I want certain goups of polygons to be colored. The entire poly with no bleedover, etc. and I'll use this as the basis for later texture master work.

I've tried making the draw graph a horizontal line maxed at the top, and using edit mode usign the draw pointer with ZADD off and RGB on. It sort of works, but as Zbrush seems to be more vertex based (as noted by the little red dot that follows your cursor) it totally spaztic when selecting/coloring the polygons. I'll get polys next to the one I want colored while the one I'm pointing at doesn't color at all.

Ideas?

Load this script (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=010253), there is a selection by polygone ! (the little house)

Thanks Frenchy, I tried that method (masking, inverting, filling object with color), then turning off the GRD button under the TOOL:TEXTURE option to get hard edges. However, when I convert COLR>TXTR it blurs and I loose the hard lines... :(

I think I figure out how to do what I want with UVMapper and Wings.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if it's 'meant' to work or not, but the other day I quite successfully dropped models with masks applied into texturemaster and painted over them. After picking, colour was applied only to the non-masked areas and the edges were nice and sharp.

You could also convert the mask to a stencil and use that but just dropping with the mask cuts out the extra steps and avoids having to scale and move the stencil.

This is my own hobby horse ;) Trouble is Zed isn't designed for really low poly work(if you want to keep your hair). But maybe some day. :)
