PLEASE HELP WITH SMUDGE TOOL!!!!!!!

i'm trying to blend two peices (tools) together and i can't figure out how to get the smudge tool to work. what setting should everything be on, etc.? PLEASE HELP!!

Try it with ZADD turned on in the Draw pallette. If you're trying to blend to objects together, you may also want to try it with the blur brush or the glow brush with ZADD turned on, whichever will give you the best result for what you are trying to do.
