Hi all,

I am trying to use texture master on a mesh I made with Zsheres, and have turned it into an adaptive mesh.

I have come close to completeing it and not when I drop it in texture master, and paint.

the paint disappears., it wont let me paint any more.

IS there some key I am hitting to make it broken like this?

and is there a way to fix it so I can continue textureing my mesh?

most of the time I can save my mesh and close, and reopen zbrush and continue painting....

for some reason with this mesh it wont even let me do that.

it is good to prep a model before using TM. aurick explains how to in This Thread! (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=010200)

Hope this can help.

Thanks for your quick responce, but that is not my problem.

I have already started textureing it, and at some point it decides to stop letting me apply paint to it.

I drop the mesh in texturemaster and paint but when I pick it up again the paint dissapears..

it wont let me edit the texture anymore, and when I try to re-open the tool It still wont let me texture it.

and when I close zbrush and re open it, it still wont let me continue textureing the tool.

I am thinking that I am hitting some key that takes it out of edit mode or something... as soon as I find out wich key it is I am going to buy a new keyboard and remove that key so I never ,ever ever, ever hit it again.

this is quite frusterating, I have science made a new mesh from scratch just so I can make my deadline and texture it on time, and the new mesh has the same problem, it lets me drop and paint about 3 times then it wont let me texture it any more.

maby it is because I hit shift or control S, could this be my problem?

This is most likely caused by an overlooked setting. An example is if you have mistakenly pressed Draw>ZSub before dropping the model for texturing.

If you press Pick and the texture remains unchanged, do the following:

1) Without moving the model, look for the modifier (such as ZSub) that is causing the problem and choose the correct setting.
2) Press Drop in TextureMaster and then execute 2 Undos (Ctrl+Z). The canvas should now be exactly as it was before pressing Pick.
3) Press Pick. If you have correctly adjusted the modifiers in step 1, the texture will now be updated. If it still doesn't copy, go back to step 1. :)

Well I called Pixologic today and got to meet auric over the phone... it was extreamly edjucational....

I have just one question still....

after I pose my mesh and make the adaptive skin, is there any way to reset the textureing system on that adaptive mesh?

I still cannot edit the adaptive mesh, it still seems to have the propertys of the Zsphere model where I somehow screwed it up.

I try to drop it and paint it, and still It dose not let me use any 3d tool, or 2d tool (like the simple brush) ..... when I pick it up all my work still disappears...

is there any way possible to make this mesh texture editable again? some way that I can just reset whatever I did, and start new from the mesh the way it is now?

in the future I am going to pay close attension to the draw menu, makeing sure I dont set anything while modeling.... Hopefuly this wont happen again to me.

ok,

I figured it out... to reset the model so I can texture it again I just saved it as an OBJ file... going to post my findings in its own thread, so people can find it easy if they need it... going to post some shots also...

Thanks again auric!!

I recommend saving the skinned mesh as a ZTL rather than an OBJ. The reason for this is that when you export as an OBJ, ZBrush performs a few routines on the model and any texture that is applied to it to make them play nicely with other programs. Unfortunately, that then skews things slightly for ZBrush.

On the other hand, saving it as a ZTL doesn't perform those routines and so the texture will continue to wrap properly from session to session.

Only export as an OBJ as the last step before using the model in another application. But always keep a ZTL version on hand, too, in case you decide later that you want to further modify the model or its texture. This way, you get the best of both worlds. :)
