what's the differences between turning off the 'tool>modifiers>SH,SV' and the quick 3D edit function? according to the help information about those two functions it seems that they actualy do the same thing, but I notice that if I turn off the SH and SV the model's shape is slightly different than it was if I use the quick 3D edit.
*edit* - and here's a small pic:

Hi,
for the first question....i can't ansewer.
The displacement mapping is a technique, you can paint a texture (256 grey)over the model, The software move (displacement) the poligon of the obj up were with and down were black.
To have this in a clear manner you must have many poligon in your obj.

Quickedit works only when in edit mode. When it is clicked on, smoothing is not applied, which helps to make modelling less resource intensive. Quickedit affects the entire model.

SH and SV cause smoothing to be applied or turned off in all modes. They can be applied individually or both together, e.g. if you wanted a wall with an arch in it, you could apply them as necessary to make the curve of the arch smooth but the edges of the wall sharp.

Displacement mapping will come in v1.6 .

Quick 3D edit allows you to edit your model in unsmoothed mode. But when you drop (go out of edit mode) the model, it is smoothed first. If you turn SH and SV which stand for smoothing horz and vert, when you drop the model it is dropped unsmoothed.
