Here's an abstract from goofing around with a new material I came up with. (The moire pattern shows up only on curved surfaces.) I also used the same fine line texture used to create the material as a texture on some of the objects.

Here is the material file, should anyone be interested. Your comments are always appreciated.

Wow Brn this is a wonderful material and a really cool image you've done here. Hmmm, a thousand ideas this ferments in the brain :)

Would you mind if I included this material on Z-Place?

Really neat effect you have accomplished there with the grill, is that a textured sphere or plane? or did you place each section by hand?

Hmm between Kruzr's hexweave, Ed the Atom's mucho mutilated head and this colorful material (I raised the diffussion a tad) I may be busy for awhile

Digits,

Yes, please feel free to include the moire material at Z-place. Great image! You certainly did a lot with that material in a short time. I love the 'shredded head'.

FYI, the 'grill' in my image is just a 3D plane with a transparent texture.

Thanks Brn, it is now available at Z-Place for posterity.

Thanks for the comments on my little whipped out guy. The tattered weave from the head is actually 3 of Ed the Atom's Apeheads wearing Kruzr's texture and then pulled and mutilated into making a weird neck. I just love the sharding effect you get with that texture and I love the lighting characteristics of your material Brn, like I said I bumped up the diffusion a tad to make it brighter.

brn,

This is so cool!!! :tu:

I don't have much of an understanding of cg art-type stuff, so it is impossible for me to comment from a technical point.

I do know what I like. This material is a fine example!!!

I am going to start a new thread (post) in hopes of learning and not distract from what is going on here.
