loosing edit mode after using the gyro

HI,
After modelling in edit mode, I then rotate the model with the Gyro but then I can no longer use edit mode to continue shaping, what am I doing wrong?

You should be able to edit your object after using the Gyro. Make sure that you don't switch tools or snapshot your object.

If you want to rotate your object while you are in edit mode, simply click on your canvas outside the object and drag your mouse in the direction that you want to rotate your object.

You may want to learn about Markers, so you can pick up your object once you snapshot it to the canvas. You can find information about Markers in the ZBrush manual, which you can get from the download page on the Pixologic website.
