Okay buddies, here's my second "official" ZBrush work!
http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200305/user_image-1053469592smh.jpg
I based her on an old doodle (http://www.futurecrew.org/skaven/artwork/chick2.gif) of mine, which I first modified a little (http://www.futurecrew.org/skaven/share/zbrush/Chick2_sketch.jpg).
The head and the neck are skinned and sculpted ZSphere lumps. The ear is a sculpted sphere. For her skin, I used the TriShader material. The hair was created from a sculpted sphere, onto which several meticulous twirly SnakeHook Brush strokes were added. The background was made with the Real2Virtual Tile Designer.

When making the ZBrush version, she somehow lost all her attitude in the process. :( I guess I didn't quite get the head's shape, pose or proportions right. But hey, it's been good practice regardless.
121 welcome. I might still experiment with different skin and hair colors. I kinda like the color in the FastShader version. :)

Hmmm... good point! I forgot to turn them on. Also the neck layer was placed too far back, so there was no shadow on it (sometimes it's hard to see how objects are placed depth-wise in ZBrush even with the fog.. some kind of a depth profile analyzer tool could be handy, no?). I fixed that and changed the lighting a bit. Here:

BTW, Mahlikus, big thanks for making that TriShader skin material! I used the one you made in the skin thread (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=010026&p=5). It works great! :tu:

Zizi is a nickname ?

I dunno, it could be her first name too. Being painted in ZBrush I thought it would be appropriate. Why? Is it a name they usually only give to dogs? :)
I liked the first one but the update looks even better, well done :tu:

Hi Skaven
In familiar french "zizi" is the anatomy part used for the reproduction :D

Oh dear... :o (male or female?)
And in Italian it's just a common first name. Well, I guess every name on Earth has a, er, 'different' meaning someplace else.
Well, it's a French word for the male reproductive organ

Yes, male or female, but not in vulgar sens, more childlike :)

This is great, and I think it has plenty of personality, even if the sketch might have been better in that respect. Could you show the sketch? (I like sketches)
Also, I think the fog is the biggest negative point with the current version. If you set the fog to black, it might be OK, but it is wierd looking and distracting to have fog that affects and even totally obscures the hair at the back of the neck.
In my opinion, you don't want any fog to affect the hair. It washes out details, and I would think that you would want the details and specular highlights on the hair to stand out. Right now, with the fog, it kind of looks like one of those cut-outs where a person sticks their face out through a hole so that someone can take their picture. The hair looks like part of the background, flat and painted on, with the face sticking out and fully three-dimensional. The body helps correct this problem, but I think removing the fog would eliminate it alltogether. (My 2.5 cents.)

Jaycephus, there are links to the sketches in the first post of this thread.
Thank you for your comments. You do have a point. I'll do something about the fog when I get time to ZBrush again. I thought it gave the picture nice depth and focus, reducing the contrast of the background (thus making the face more prominent) and softening the outer rims of her hair. Perhaps I'll remove the fog - or perhaps I'll just bring the fogged parts of the hair closer in Z depth so they won't get fogged.
The hair was tricky to get to look even the way it does now. It's very hard to tell how the hair volume is actually shaped depth-wise; it's a tangled mass of SnakeHook strokes. It's funny that even though the final result is a 2D image, you must do everything correctly in 3D, otherwise errors like these will show up.

Hi shaven...thats a cool lookin model you have there...I really like the expression on her face!! :)...I think if you make her eyes shadow look alittle more like make up , add some variation in skin colour..very suttle...and put some pours on her....I would'nt mind taking her home my self
nice one mate
Kircho
She's a cutie, Skaven. :tu:

Here's the final version:
http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200305/user_image-1053724061pjr.jpg
Not many changes to the previous one. Just fixed the fogging on her hair and added some (very subtle) pores. I also darkened the eyebrows a little, because I forgot to darken them when I darkened the tone of the skin material.
Kircho, if you look carefully, you may notice she does have skin color variation: there's blush, and there's freckles (look at the "flat color" version in previous page to see them more clearly). But I wanted to be subtle with them. :)
Fun fact: I created the eyelashes by painting SphereBrush strokes over the edges of her eyelids in a separate layer, then moved the layer forward so it sunk "into" the eyelids. After that, I pulled the lashes out with the SnakeHook brush. What a wonderful tool, that.
