Hadnt touched a head model per say in a few days and was having bedtime zhead withdrawals...so I have started another one...ears and neck seperate from the base head...no painting yet, just light and materials. Thought I would share.

Recorded a script..dont know if it works or not but here it is for the head base part..no biggy

edit..took down the first image and did a 3way composite to save thread space on the thumbnails..

left to right...

base model
then with eyes and teeth
painted up a bit more, rendered and adjustments pallette played with a bit...

a bit more color needed I guess...and probably some hair action...thnx for takin a look

EDIT...Fred changed the eyes...is this any better or do I need to try again? Seriously, thank you...

when I finish this piece I will post a larger version...alot of detail is obviously lost in the smaller versions. Thanx all

looks good. i really like the ears. i notice alot of people have problems with ears on heads made from spheres.

thnx...well the thing I learned from Mentat7 and Slosh was to make the ears independant of the head. It's a cheat in a way but to me ears are ears with little variance...so what the guys showed me was to take a torus tool aka a doughnut tool and inflate it and inflate and then model the ear from that torus..you can flatten one side of it in the deformations pallette etc and for the opposite ear just take and mirror it once you have one ear in place on the head...I have also MM the ears onto a head model and then polymeshed the whole thing together. So that works good for me...No its not as much of a challenge to do it this way, but I get quick passable ears. If you or anyone else wants an ear script I will be happy to do one. But I can't take credit for the technique...that goes to Lonnie and Slosh and whomever if anyone that showed them....the food chain is long on ZBC....and some of the originators of some things are either no longer around or lurking about...but thanks to the old timers for helping me when I needed it..(and still do obviously)... :tu:

Cameyo, your wish is my command :) I believe this zip file is the tool I used on this one.

eartool1.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200402/user_file-1073979004bmn.zip)

and this one is my pointed elf ear..just a further modeled regular ear...

PointyElfEar1.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200402/user_file-1073979159abt.zip)

use em as you like :) thnx for the interest in the fatman's goodies.

Fred...I will change the eyes....though I love green eyes, I don't think they will work that well with this guy...brown/orangeish eyes more than likely....thnx for the suggestions..it helps, believe me...

Hi Ron, I like the middle ones skin better (the one with the green eyes), but I like the one with the brown eyes.

I took your ears :D

But I am experimenting with them, and it looks okay so far. And the process is you mask off everything but where you want the ears to be, with symmetry on. Then you inflate the area. Keep unmasking to correct any area that needs smoothing from the inflate, for this reason, inflate at slow increments. You only want to inflate to the point you feel confortable with grabbing and moving the ears as you do with the head. I am still working on it, but boy, the hardest part was actually positioning them in the right area when viewing from the side.

But you are right, a ear is a ear, they either stick out or they dont :D Mine stick out LOL :D

Would show ya, but this is your thread, I will be posting when I am done with the head. Damn, I still love your eyes. But now I can at least paint them in if I cannot do it the other way. :D

Take care, and keep posting, you are hard to keep up with my friend :)

thnx guys...the phone woke me up..grrrrr....so I am back for a bit ...Frenchy, I put the script up here because I remembered to hit the record button for a change. Was not my intent to give a tut at the time of modeling...but that is still ok...glad to see you overcame the limitations of the resizing of the screen though. Feel free to post that altered script for the demo users here if you want to. As for this "style of modeled head". These are basically how all my modelled heads look I guess when I go from memory. Soon though I will probably use reference images to change the looks. The only thing that I probably do different is how I handle the eyelids compared to six monts or less ago. This vision of how a head is stuck in my mind for whatever reason..so when when I sit down to model it always appears either in z or on paper alot of times. I think they normally have alot of characteristics of the facial structure I had in my own face to a certain degree when I was younger and didnt have all the lard on my own face ie pugged noses, cleft chins etc...but I will try to change that in the near future...thnx for the comments ..here is the larger version I worked on right before daybreak this morning.....again thanx for the comments....and Kitty please feel free to post your results here if you would like, I never would be upset at that. It would help to enhance my thread as Frenchy has done already. Thank you all again.
Ron

This one is very large I know...but the smaller ones seem to lose so much detail. If it's too big, my apologies.

Okay Ron...this is the head I am working on, and the first time I really added ears (except for the kid which I have not gotten back to yet, and that was a pull out in the beginning, this is adding the ears after most of the basic features are defined). I used the inflate as I said above, and I found it works great for me, but will see when I get it done.

Thanks for letting me just show that you can do ears with inflate and masking.

Pain in the ass back again.
You had mentioned an ear script?
I would be grateful as usual.
I appreciate the ones you have donated.
But it would help to see the creation from the creator.
Please don't create half spheres, a month for ears would be a bitch.

thanks yall..rtyer....I did ears in this zscript that follows..I had posted this one in another thread at some point...I think the ears disappear when i tried to put them into place....I will try to see if that script can be fixed unless someone more proficient at scripting can figure out what happened or how to alter the script..it would be appreciated....
