View Full Version : Hi (Overwhelmed Newbie)
Hi
Yeah...I am new here, and just got zbrush on the weekend, so I guess you can imagine how overwhelmed I am LOL
I have printed out the manual, and will be having a go through it during my lunch hours this week, but I was wondering if anyone could direct me to tutorials or information more directly to what I really need zbrush for (initially).
I am a texture artist who can do almost anything in photoshop, but am looking at zbrush to help with some of the aspects where working 2d for a 3d surface may not be so easy (specially seam matching).
So if there are any good tutorials for importing objects with my current textures...showing how I can edit them in zbrush...and then exporting the texture map again...I would appreciate the point in the right direction.
You all seem like a friendly lot, so thanx for the patience towards this newbie (who plans on dropping that title very soon LOL)

Hi and welcome!
Top of the page is link to quicklinks, that takes you to newbie heaven, lol I should know i've been here only month or two.
Happy zbrushing
Welcome aboard, always good to see new people.
Not exactly sure what you want, but the seam thing caught my eye, so thought I would remind you that you do have tutorials on your program, and I believe one is called seamaway. It should be at the bottom of the tutorial icons you can click on.
Do not think I have helped, but at least I got to say hi

Hi Rawnrr
Welcome to ZBˇˇˇ
I really suggest you to see the tutorials that come with the program. They allow you to have a really complete and very simple of the main aspect of ZB.
Of course as have been pointed the quicklink are very complete of every tool and of every topic. But the FIRST I suggest to run the script tutorials...before press in the script panel "show action" and "delay" this allow you to see step by step and slowly actions.
Hope this help and...just be patient with you.
Congratulations

Welcome and a reminder.
There is a material pack, available for
downloading that may be of help.
It contains, if memory serves me right, about
100 more materials that may be useful or inspiring.
The best of luck.
Bienvenido, Rawnrr!
for your immediate purposes:
see Texture palette for importing/exporting textures
Tool palette :: Polymesh3d tool (looks like a six-pointed star) for importing objects
Tool :: Inventory for importing/exporting objects
Load the TextureMaster ZScript and run its tutorials -- this will help you paint your objects
Also, for freehand painting of seamless textures, you can hold the tilde (~) key and drag with the mouse to slide the canvas -- this will bring the seams to the middle of the canvas where you can blend them away (I believe wrapping mode is ON by default in the Layers palette)

But it's not dramatic else quasi possibilities are support by the inside Mat
Thank you everyone...for your greetings and for your help.
I also found some great training videos at 3dbuzz.com which are free to download, and immensly helpful.
Hopefully I will begin posting some things in the next few weeks :)

Video of Zbrush ?
Pilou
Yes...If you register at http://www.3dbuzz.com/
(its free registration) then there are a number of training videos for all kinds of software which are free to download and view on your computer.
...and one of the sets is on zbrush.
the good part is that it starts at the most basic point of view, like someone who has just opened the software for the first time.

Hi rawnrr and welcome
I tried to find those videos, no luck? Could you put that link on where to find these videos, Thanks
I am not sure if you can find the videos unless you are registered and logged into their site, so my direct link may not be of much good.
But I will post the link when I get home(in about 4 hours or so).
Here is the link that gets me to the videos.
Hope it helps. http://sv1.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/uunr_tr.php
