I am having trouble smoothing things and I am not sure if it is a known glitch or what. Someone else did some work using only the smoothing feature but when I apply that function it only makes very minor changes even at huge numbers. I am using ZBrush 1.55 on a Mac with OS9. Thanks
The work that you're referring to used the interactive smoothing brush, which is one of the many new editing tools available in Z2.
You can read about them in the preview. :)

Hi GhostofMacbeth in 1.55b the only smooth function is in Tool>Modifier>Deformation>Smooth and also in the Tool>Modifier>Divide.

Thanks for your attention

ps: I am not sure if this is your pointˇ

I am talking about the Deformation Modifyer that compares the different surfaces and averages them out. For example: A nose, using this you can subtle smooth it out. That is my understanding but it doesn't seem to work at all in my version. I literally filled the row with numbers in the millions just testing it and it didn't do anything really.

The problem is that it doesn't do anything ...

in the tools-modifiers-deformations-smooth? you got numbers in the millions? to the best of my knowledge and in my version the slider only goes up to 100 on each given instance and it works great.....hahaha sometimes too great.
can you do a screen capture perhaps to show what you are doing?

That is the screenshot. It allowed me to type all those zeros at least without an error message .. The pic is after smoothing it about the same value once ..
The Smooth slider adjust the points in relation to their neigbors. So regardless of the value that you use, if the points are already smoothed in relation to their neighbors then it won't smooth any more. In the example that you're showing, the nose is as smooth as it's going to get.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to reshape the nose? Or are you trying to make the polygons less noticeable? If the former, you should use the sculpting tools to reshape it and then try Smooth again to soften any stray points. If you're trying to make polygons less visible, you should be sure that Tool>Modifiers>Smooth is at a value of 1 and if need be increase Tool>Modifiers>Divide to increase the render subdivision effect.
Lastly, the deformations have a maximum value of 100. While you may be able to type a higher value, you still will only get the same effect as typing 100.

What I am trying to do is a no nose morph basically .. Someone else said he simply smoothed it and it worked but I get nothing so that is why I thought it might not be working fully.
Hi GoM! (I'm not a regular here_have just got zbrush) I think its was probably Nos4art2 who accomplished this over at DAZ (IM him there and I'm sure he'd let you know how he did it)

Hey Noggin, Yep it was him and he said he smoothed it which is why I was wondering since I wasn't having as good of luck. Right now I am just trying to figure it out and see what I can do. Thanks though.
