View Full Version : Metamorphosis; a before and after celebratory CHALLENGE
http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200403/user_image-1079294916fbg.jpg
ZBrush 1.55b is dead, long live Z2!
No doubt we are all getting ready for the arrival of Z2 and what looks to be a great leap forward. To take your mind off the long wait until the 31st, or at least to distract you for a while, we would like to present you with a challenge. So step up and have one last waltz with ZBrush 1.55b.
The challenge is on the loose theme of metamorphosis or 'before and after' and is in two parts, one to mark the passing of an old friend and one to welcome the coming of a new one. It is fairly open though, so the interpretation is up to you; really, it's just about having some fun in these exciting times :)
For the first part show us your visual epitaphs and eulogies to ZBrush 1.55b. For our monster lovers maybe a tombstone or coffin, or an obituary in the paper. It doesn't have to be gloomy though, so our gentler members could do a whole dance troupe performing Swan Lake if they liked :D
For the second part create an image that has something to do with metamorphosis or renewal. It could be an 'after shot' of your first picture, like a pretty flower growing on a grave, or a birth notice. It doesn't have to follow on from your first picture though, so you could also do something like a phoenix rising from the ashes, a butterfly or the changing of the guard at Buckingham palace.
Again, it's just about having fun, so let your imagination run wild and flex your ZBrush muscles in preparation for the dawning of the age of Z2.
:b3: Part 1 of the challenge runs from the 15th to the 23rd of March.
:b3: Part 2 will run from the 23rd to the 31st of March.
:b3: There are no rules regarding tools allowed, but try to use Zbrush 1.55b as much as possible.
A big Thanks to Bonecradle for writing the challenge description :tu: Yup, I did end up copy/pasting it :)

TVeyes, yes! I'm pretty new here and I've never been in a challenge yet so I'm going to try to do something for this one. I'll keep the bar nice and low ...

Pilou
It's a metamorphosis isn't it ? :)
Ps made with this funny free Prog
Win Morph (http://www.debugmode.com/winmorph/) but you can make very more elaborated things
:b3: morphing between 2 images
:b3: warping on an image
:b3: theses same manipulations on a video !!!
(tuts inside)

Pss I am affraid that is only for Pc users
Nice one Frenchy. Yes it is a Metamorphosis :) But the challenge is not necessarily aimed at making a picture that shows a metamorphosis. It is merely a chance to say goodbye and hello to the next version (part 1 / part 2) and make the days go by faster (only 16 days now until Z2).
It is called Metamorphosis because we do 1 picture saying goodbye to Zbrush and another saying hello to Zbrush.
An excellent idea TVeyes.
"End? No, the journey doesn't end here. There's another path, one that we all must take. The gray rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and it will change to silver glass, and then you see it... white shores, and beyond them, a far green country under a swift sunrise."
Farewell ZBrush 1.55b!

Muvlo I love the simplicity of it and the sharp angled strokes :tu:
Nice leapfrogging by the V2 logo Control Freak :)
Cool tombstone zerobio hope you have some more up your sleeve. Btw there is no bar here, it is just about having some fun until the release of V2.
It might seem as if I have banished ZB1.55b to an island but it is not meant as such. I love islands and would love to visit the ZB1.55b one again. But it is too hazardous. Rest in peace.

That's a great idea, Fouad B! :tu: I know. I'm just too slow to implement my ideas myself...
The fast eat up the slow. :o
(My idea would have icluded the idea of the ZBrush 2 logo being a snake that crawls out of a snake egg that has the ZBrush 1 logo on it)
It's Party Time and Michael and his Magical Party Hat (http://www.cyber-webs.com/zbrush/Michaelsparty_index.html) is tending bar. Drinks are free til Mar 31st.
