i consider this image as ready, however i would appreciate to have 121 comments, to learn for future projects.

even though, i am quite new with zbrush, i like to share how i made the knight.
all is made with zbrush, except jpg-compression.
1) the head is modeled from a low-poly adaptive skin obtained from a zsphere with 3 holes for eyes and mouth and a bump for the nose. i modeled into shape and then divided the mesh where i needed more details. i like this way, since you get nice edgeloops, i think mentat mentioned these not too long ago.
2) the top of the helmet is an easy alphaskin, flattened a little, and then spherized and inflated a little. inside this is just a flattend sphere. the sides are also alphaskins, flattend and then sbend into shape. the decorations are just tori and the standard sweeptool.
3) the horns are made from torus, 150 degree coverage, tapered to 0.1 and then bend. i did after this a little modeling to get the exact shape i was after.
4) then i multimarkered all the pieces into place, emptied the canvas and resized the document to 1500 X 1500. then i used the multimarkers to put all the pieces into place, on 4 different layers, so that each single piece is surrounded by empty space. in this way i could erase and redraw, if i do not like something. (for example i did the eyes quite often, and still they are not my favourite, but i do not know why...)
5) then i painted all the textures - actually most of it is simple color -, with slightly modified standard materials. using the bump brush, i added the smaller details at the horns, and at the helmet.
6) most of the time took the drawing of the eyebrows, and the fur, since i experimented a lot, to get the fibers as i wanted. the fur is drawn on top of a sphere, which was roughly modeled to match the shoulders form. this sphere was wildly colored with various shades of brown. i used then the continuous picker, and allowed it just to look in the layer i was working in, to choose the color for the fur-fibres.
7) i tweaked again the materials and then merged all layers. the wall in the background is on a new layer and is simply painted. i used zadd shadows with 3 rays and max distance.
altogether about 10 hours of work.
