Note from Aurick:
If you downloaded version 1.51 at any time in the past, then you are already in the Digital River database regardless of where you initially purchased ZBrush. You will have an order number from that download, which is what you will need in order to access version 1.55b. If you do not remember your order number or your password, Digital River's customer support can assist you. We've placed their contact info on the upgrade page, for your convenience.
Also, the file will be listed by Digital River as the version that you first downloaded from them. Please disregard this. Clicking the download button will give you the correct upgrade.

Thank you so much! That leaves only one more Os X Classic application to wait for: MetaSynth by U&I Software (and they're actively working on it.)
You've got a fantastic application here and as a programmer and artist I wish you all the best success with the direction you are taking this app.
Best Regards to all at Pixologic, and all on ZBrush Central,

Mahlikus:
sorry but: most of the folks here KNEW that displacement-mapping would not be in!!
At least you seemed to be able to download, more then me - changed my email-adress and digital-river seems to have no bright solution for this.
See, from THIS point of view your naggin NOW is just a bit "strange" - wrong??

Aurick:
I went through the "redownload" instructions as listed on the Pixlologic site. I managed to get as far as accessing my old order from August 2002. The new version is listed and I am requested to download. When I try, I get that message that says I have tried to download 12 times already and I must be having trouble. No, this was the 1st time I tried. Then when following the links they provide I enter an endless loop. Please instruct me as to how I can obtain my "bonus upgrade".
sincerely,
Greg Smith
same message from digitalriver..
Though they claim that one could download as many times needed... :(
Uhhhh... I bought zBrush through Daz3D, so is that why there's no info on me at Pixologic? I know I registered it...

However one question....
The download is named 1.5.1?
Anyway tried downloading, just in case it is 1.55....halfway through download and digital river server reset.......soooo will have to try again.

I bought my ZBrush at MacWorld this month, and Digital River has no info on me, and I can't upgrade.
Hopefully this'll get resolved in the usual prompt Pixologic manner :D
mr
I haven't gone ahead and downloaded yet, as you say Ed, it say's 1.5.1, anybody know if that is the new version download please. Perhaps the number hasn't been changed yet.
Dave
Wooow!
Just downloaded it and it looks fantastic! (Yes, it is the new version....Zbrush 1.55b :))

When I go to the digitalriver site and attempt the download, the version is shown as ZBrush 1.55b.
However, like others, I cannot download.

EDIT!

Whew! OK I took a risk and downlaoded even though it said 1.5.1... and lo & behold! After I opened the 1.5.1 folder, voila! there was 1.55b.... Where was my faith???

If it helps anyone trying to download -
I had to go back through my email and find the upgrade "reciept" for 1.51 from Digital River and use the order number from that. If I used my email/CC info it showed me as having no orders on record.
Once you know your Digital River order number, please keep it in your records! You will need it again to download your free upgrade to version 1.6 when that becomes available.
Also, the file will be listed by Digital River as the version that you first downloaded from them. Please disregard this. Clicking the download button will give you the correct upgrade.
Though it says 1.5.1, it is in fact 1.5.5, so you can download Donna.

I was too slow, you beat me Aurick.

According to step five of pixologic's upgrade instructions page, after we "Click the button labeled "Re-Download". You'll be taken to a download page, again showing your originally-purchased ZBrush version number. Begin downloading; this file will be the latest version of ZBrush .
Since I purchased 1.23b from PublishingPerfection, and downloaded the 1.51 upgrade from digitalriver, the file I clicked on should say 1.51 upgrade. According to pixologic, however this should actually be the 1.55b upgrade. I hope they're right. :D :tu:
:o
Edit: Thanks Aurick. I must type faster. My posts are becoming more and more obsolete and irrelevant :D :tu: .
Anyway, thanks for 1.55b!
Woooo!! osXiness!!

Keep up the good work.. :D

The Download went fine, but I have a question. When I went to the Digital River page and reviewed my order, it showed I had already purchased V1.55b. I thought it was supposed to show that I had purchased 1.23b(I had purchased ZBrush when it was 1.23b, and also downloaded 1.51 when it was available.)? I have found that whenever I download any new Zbrush files from Digital River, there is always something that makes me uneasy about how Digital River administrates and manages their databases and account info. I saw some other posts here that said "DR" showed a 1.51 when they went to re-download, but mine did show 1.55b. Can someone please let me know what's going on? P.S. Looks like you guus did a great job with the update! I'm looking forward to trying the attractor Zspheres! :) :tu:
WHOA awesome!! gotta get it now now now
thanks a million , pixologic staff, :tu:

I have to agree Sirquadalot
The instructions said we would need to know our order numer. All I did was punch in my email address and last 5 CC numbers and it told me my order number, which I didn't need o input anywhere. It also said 1.55b was the download but I don't recall the page telling me my previous version number.
Maybe Pixologic got them to straighten things out because of the problems.
It always seems to be the way in publishing. You work your hardest to produce a refined product and then have to put it in the hands of 3rd party printers, distributors etc. to whom it is just another job.
It all worked well for me (97% complete), so hope everyone else can overcome the obstacles soon.
if u look below the c-card and email address enter page, u can see it says find by order number...click it and enter your number and password
PS: just d/l'd it and imma check it out more in depth tomorrow after school
THANKS AGAIN!! woohoo :tu: :D

I got my version through Creation Engine LLC. Is this going to be a problem? I always am cautious about giving out any information on my C.C. on the net. Especially to a company that I've never bought from, even if it's only the last 5#....
D.T.
P.S. I'm curious why they would be holding existing CC numbers. Many companies take great pains of destroying documention after each transaction. I think using some other number other than CC#'s makes more sense..

I thought I shouldn't just leave it hanging with my previous complaint so here's an update...
I got it downloaded, (Thanks Matthew), installed, and loaded...
One thing that I was looking for is the ability to model a basic model in ZBrush, and import it and its texture into LightWave intact...
Well, I can! So for me this is already a great improvement...Thanx Lads! :tu:
(And you too Verna...Thought I forgot you huh? ;) )
Very happy here! Thanks, Team Pixologic!
Two *significant* upgrades since I paid for my license in June 2002 ... this program is evolving faster than I am ;)
Best wishes to all involved,

Has anyone who has had problems downloading had any success from the customer service department at Digital River?

Well I'm having no luck getting information, hopefully I'll have a response from Digital river by the morning.... :(

I agree. I'd prefer they use a combination of email, order number, customer number, and/or password. Just having the option for (partial) credit card number is enough to reduce their credibility a bit in my book.
Sounds like a good thing to write to Digital River about!

Latest irritation with this system...
ZBrush was not my most recent purchase from Digital River. So going to my most recent purchase did not help matters.
Still can't get anywhere with this as of now. Not sure anyone will be available to help me at 1:00am EST so I guess I'll have to try and contact them tomorrow.
While efforts at automation are admirable, sometimes it would be nice to just be able to download an updater that won't work as a standalone installer so we won't have to jump through these hoops.
Sigh.
Frank
OK - I guess I was wrong. Amazingly enough I actually got someone from Digital River on the phone and got this resolved. Sorry to complain a little too soon!

Hello!
I will be downloading 1.55b this evening.
Maybe one of the already successful downloadees could answer the following question:
Does the 1.55b release feature a permanent serial number or is it still temporary serial thing???
Thank you very much in advance!
Fantabulous!
My only classic apps are now Poser and Groboto.
I was a little concerned about the spinning beachball.... but it seems that it is only being used as a "wait" cursor in the OS X version. This should probly be considered a minor cosmetic bug, but so far, the app seems VERY solid!
Now I am finally forced to upgrade my old ADB Wacom.

Its a temporary number.. and
Its really cool that its a temporary number.
In fact I hope there is never a permenant number.
We should do everything we can, and yes, even submit to that mild irritation if it may restrict piracy of this program as doing so makes it better for all of us.
Thats my take on the subject anyway.
:p   :D

There is one question.
The next file becomes an error when unzip(ing) a Zip file.
For what is this file used?
ZBrush_155b\ZData\AutoNotes\Icon.bin
Hi mackey,
if you unzip the file with Winzip 8.1 no error occur. The filename Icon.bin has an incorrect character...

Hell ya! Aurick thanks for being so helpful with my email sent to you yesterday...you da man...
I had two error messages with Zip Magic, but my tests of the program so far suggest that the program itself is working ok
No don't agree with you Antimorph, I have now had the program for two years and have had too many serial number problem's. I look forward to a permanent, permanent serial number, so I can be certain that everytime I open the program it works.
When telling interested people about the benefits of Zbrush, I have had to tell them about the serial number problem, to save me from being lynched later when they found out. A majority that use their program's for work, say, " What! a download program that requires you to be continually dependent on the producer's, to be able to use it. How much is it £50, because it would need to be, with that disability".
I welcome the permanent number, it will now eliminate a serious dysfuntion when telling people what Z is about. I'm afraid commercialy Antimorph you don't live in the real world, and to be sure Z hits the main computer graphics world, it has to be commercialy viable.

@ Antimorph
I'm afraid I can't share your view on the temporary serial: it's this simple: the purchase of a permanent license should equal a permanent serial (in my view) - this has nothing to do with the fact that I appreciate ZBrush very much... I also cherish other software and was by purchase entitled to a permanent license.
Furthermore I am quite certain there was news that a permanent serial was going to be implemented with the update and my purchase was certainly influenced by this information.
Best regards!

I'm now a happy camper.
I called Digital River and got the number downloads increased.
I was able to download right away.
I had a small snag at unzipping it, but I renamed the icon[].bin file to icon.bin and I was able to unzip everything.
The temporary S/N in the zip file worked first try. :)
--------------------
There is a post from Aurick in the support forum that the number of downloads will be increased for the orders, so no one should have to call Digital River in future about that problem.
----------------------
1.55b is awesome and I look forward in creating some models for Unreal Tournament 2003.
Bye,
Dave
Celebrations, you've gotten it done at last! :tu: :tu: :tu:
Happy New Z!! :)
I have to side with those wishing for a permanent serial. I know piracy is a huge problem for developers, artists, etc., but anything is better than a temporary solution. I learned graphics on an Amiga (don't laugh, it's got a 200mHz PPC, 80MB RAM etc.) and once of the programs I was most excited by was called Tornado3D by an Italian comapny called Eyelight. They were very concerned by piracy, as well they should have been given the nature and size of the Amiga market. Their initial solution was to require a dongle for the software to run. Two versions later they added a user specific key generator and requested the key disk be mailed back to them. It wasn't a hopeless procedure though it was a bit flaky and many users had a hard time getting it to work on their configurations. 6 months later, Eyelight disappeared without a trace, never to be heard from again. So while it's possible to run nearly any other Amiga 3D app under emulation, or even on one of the newer PPC systems (AmigaOne/Pegasos), there is no way to use T3D on any machine other than an Amiga originally supported by the dongle/keyfile combo. I certainly don't expect Pixologic to go away, nor do I expect to be without the internet anytime soon. However if either of these things were to happen, I'd be a legal user of zBrush and yet unable to use it perhaps ever again. Who'd among us could stand that?
Version 1.55b users can send in for a permanent serial number. In addition, the time sensitivity experienced by many users with previous versions has been eliminated. Finally, should something ever happen to Pixologic, we would not leave our customers high and dry.
So there is no need for concern, either now or in the future!
With version 1.55, we recommend that you first run ZBrush for a few days to make sure that there were no hidden problems with your download. Once you are satisfied that the program is performing as expected, follow the instructions in Serial_Number.txt to send in for your permanent serial number.
Happy ZBrushing!
