Experimenting with mechanical CAD (SolidWorks) model conversion to .obj (by way of .stl :( ) :

...nice to see a fellow SolidWorks jockey in here. It woulnd't have occured to me to bring a SolidWorks model into ZBrush...

Scott, yes, the SolidWorks rendering package, PhotoWorks, is mediocre, and it's especially poor on shadows. We use PW to generate presentations for clients or potential clients. This was a test to see how well a certain translator program would work. It was cheap. There is a more expensive program that may work much better, since it will translate a native SW file directly into .obj.
