Hi :)
Instead of starting another ‘test image’ I have chosen to apply your 121 feedback in order to update the “Under The Zee” image…. (The white-border+text was done in pts, everything else was done in ZBrush)
http://www.pixolator.com/images01/UnderTheZee02.jpg
In this image, I have used the Intensity, Shading Enhancer, Colorize, Sharpen and glow brush. This image has more of a painting feel than a 3D rendered feel. Which do you prefer ?

Your continued 121 is appreciated and if you liked the first version more than this version, please let me know as well :)
Thanks,
-Pixolator
P.S. The original image is in this thread (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000452).
P.S2. Again, there is a noticeable loss of details due to low-quality jpg compression.

Hi Pixolator,

A whole new world......the sea feels cold and wet.

I actually like both. This one to my eye is more interesting by far though.
Fascinating. You sure you didn't create this planet?

The only thing I can't decide.....is whether or not the part of the rock in front of the big fish.......should that
rock/ and its colouring follow the same line as the fish?

It maybe interesting to allow others to copy the image to see what they would do with the picture..and post all variants....

I prefer this one. While the original gives me the WOW effect for realism, this image has a lot more feeling in it.

I prefer number one.

For some reason, I'm not drawn into the second version like the first. I could have stared at the first for hours (and actually pictured it hanging in my lanai by the pool)

This one seem harsh, cold, and sallow...a bit more brutal.

Number 1 definetly gets my vote.

I like this one better myself. It looks like a deeper part of the ocean. :)

I Like this new one for artistic reasons. Parts of it are based on reality, the way things really look, and parts of it are imaginary, even fantasy. When you can blend those two together, that's when things get interesting for me. :)

I love them both! I say they both stand on thier own. To me the 1st one was perhaps more realistic in terms of light and texture, this one is like a fantasy land, bright and vibrant. Truly an Octopus's Garden, I am sure this is what Ringo had in mind.

There are some things about this one that are really cool, like the mantas and SOME of the lighting changes. Using more growth, you obscured many of those wonderful textures you had in the first, notably all the rocky ones I thought were so cool. This one is probably more accurate, at least in an older part of the ocean, but I still like the first one better overall. This one seems a bit overworked.

It's still AWESOME, though. :tu:  :tu:

They are both really awesome,
The realistic style of the first one gives a :tu:,
The lighting and glows in this one give it a :tu:!
Both equaly good in there own styles.

Hello Pixolator,

Comparing the two is not possible - they are so much the same yet vastly different. If I were to say which I prefer it would be this one. It has a quality I'm having a difficult time articulating. This ethereal lighting - the surfaces have a strange (pleasing) translucency - all the edges have glowing highlights. I wonder if I've ever actually seen something similar. Perhaps a large aquarium precisely lit and influenced with black lights.

It certainly entertains the eye for a long time. Excellent :D
