Hi everyone..

Ive been wondering how people make models with loads of creases in the skin.. like the rhino/dinosaur models ive seen in this forum.. I know I can make a wide crease and then use pinch to make it thin.. But isnt there an easier way? :).. Do you make it as a bump map perhaps? or?
Any help on the subject is appreciated.. Thx in advance :)

Check out the displacement tut/script that came with z2.

Also stencil an alpha while in edit mode on a higher res model and you can pull/ push some details out that way.

Now when painting a static model, pick yourself a good wrinkled skin alpha and use the drag rectangle stroke....try it with zadd/or zsub with light intensities to get some excellant results...and if you use the RGB only with no zsub or zadd you get more subtle results...anyways...hope this oints you in the right direction.

a quick and dirty script I just made...showing some of what I was talking about...made my own ugly alpha to demonstrate a bit...

Here is a thread (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=015400) where Dave Cardwell demonstrates his technique.

For a detailed step-by-step, see Lonnie Sargent's Box Modeling tutorial in the Z2 Practical Guide. One of the chapters covers the use of stencils to produce these kinds of details. The Hand tutorial in the guide will also help you.
